Sometime back I put up an instrumental under this title and a few of you said they looked forward to hearing this one with lyics/vocals, so here it is! It's the first one that I've posted that doesn't have any BIAB realtracks involved. The instrumental did have but I only used BIAB for a scratchpad of sorts to get this together which is another great thing about the program. It can serve various purposes such as the aforementioned scratch pad or finished production. This is a song that falls in the Contemporary Jazz/Pop genre. It's a song of thankfulness and a true expression of my heart! Thanks for giving it a spin! T

One More Sunrise
Words and music by
Torrey Bliss

Lord You give me everything I ever need
How can I ask You for more
I know that You have opened doors that I could never see
And bless me much more than I deserve
Oh Lord this time all I want
Is for You just to know
When I'm dry Lord You send the rain
When I hurt oh You heal my pain
When I'm cold You warm me again
When I fall You still forgive
Each morning it's true Your mercies are new
I love You Lord and I want to thank You
For One more sunrise
Lord when I think of where I was before
Without Your grace and all alone
And how You came that night, when I called on Your name
I've never been the same
Now all my heart, Lord it's Yours
Let me thank You again
When I'm dry Lord You send the rain
When I hurt oh You heal my pain
When I'm cold You warm me again
When I fall You still forgive
Each morning it's true Your mercies are new
I love You Lord and I want to thank You
For One more sunrise
You are aware of every breath we take
When people let us down every heartache
And the tears in our eyes
You'll lead us to a much brighter day
Once more I want to thank you Lord for all you've done
When I'm dry Lord You send the rain
When I hurt oh You heal my pain
When I'm cold You warm me again
When I fall You still forgive
Each morning it's true Your mercies are new
I love You Lord and I want to thank You
For One more sunrise

Torrey,

This is nicely done. Being able to top write (add lyrics to an existing track) is a valuable ability. Good write. Nice melody. The background vocals are super. I like when you hit that falsetto, too!...

Sounds good. A really nice Pop-RnB kind of sound to it..

Stayed in my head after it was done...

A capital T, Torrey! Totally terrific. So well written, and performed. Love those harmonies.

Excellent track! What I found most interesting is that you said that it was originally an instrumental, now made into a song. The cool thing about that is I don't think one would create this melody, with all its interesting swoops and intervals, if it didn't start as a purely instrumental piece---that path took you in a very unique direction when you put words to it. Came out stellar, really enjoy your work!

Very cool stuff.
BIAB as a writing/arrangement "scratch pad" is my favourite use of the program.
Your own tracks are, as expected, on point.
Melody is memorable as always.
In the chorus your voice is a little behind the snare.
Lovely work.

Cheers

Catchy, 70s tune that stuck in my head. I found myself just flowing with the tune. Your usual top quality work here, I really enjoyed it. One of the best artists on the Showcase.

Hi Torrey
Personally, I find writing lyrics for an existing tune a real challenge. Amazing job. And your vocal is terrific.

Hi Torrey ...

Well, the previous accolades covered most of what I was going to say. Love that hard-hitting intro. The drums are solid throughout and really drive this. You're voice truly shines on this one. The b/g vocals are so dang good!

I wish I had half your talent! with just half your talent, I'd be twice as good as I perceive myself to be. Good message with a some fine music.

Wishing you the very best, my friend. Please be safe ...

Alan

Nice work transitioning from an instrumental to a complete vocal production...no doubt that required a lot of thought and effort.

This may sound odd smile but the song reminds us of a mashup of Guy Penrod (former Gaither Vocal Band member) from the vocal perspective and Steely Dan for the over all vibe.

Beautifully performed with heartfelt vocals and lyric.

Well done!

Amazing musicianship throughout,(who needs a backing band when you can do it all!).

Really nice melody, and vocal and clever lyric writing to an instrumental.

Excellent.

Wonderful song Torrey!!! Love the concept and you nailed it! I always love your sense of melody, and your production style!! This reminds me a bit of Todd Rundgren, one of my faves from back in the day! A real treat!!! Take care. Greg

Torrey,

So much going on in this tune that engages the ear and the mind. Solid write and production—a Steely Dan feel to this for me, but with a bit more of a pop twist. The vocal is sweet as well. Great work!

All my best,

Deej

Good job. All the instruments sound good. Nice sentiments in the lyrics. I like it.

99% of my songs start with the music first so BIAB is a valued too for me too.

I really like these lyrics. The first four lines really hit home.

I also need to mention how good the instrumentation is--so full and balanced.

Hi Torrey,

You song just has so many aspects, it's hard to pin down what to comment about first! It's a fine arrangement that has a 70's Player feel to it (I'm totally okay with this!), but also sounds modern with kind the feel of the Macy Gray song "I Try". The music, the vocals and the lyrics are all top notch.
Thanks for posting it, I enjoyed listening to it.

Hi Torrey,

Somehow I must have missed this song of yours. I'm pretty sure I was one of those asking for a singer in this song. If not, it could have been me. And I know why. You made a very nice song with this one, Torrey!
The only thing I'm wondering about is how you manage to sing that high!
I have enjoyed it very much.

Hans

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
