Guess who's back, haha ...

New track :-) hope you like! These days, I'm working on recording some instrumental music (from home, due to Covid-19) for some friends of mine (some of whom were college buddies of mine ages ago ... so I have to get the darn recordings right ...), preparing for some exams, etc. etc. etc. ... hence not much time to write - and, when I do write, I have no idea if it's any good or not any more. Hence my absence from this forum, of late. But enough semi-gratuitous whining from me ... here's the song, such as it is! :-)

IN THE MORNING

In the morning, when the sun shines,
In the morning, when I open my eyes
In the morning, at noon and in the evening, my light,
I shall love you until I say good night.

All day long, I shall be singing - if right or wrong,
All night long, we shall dance to this song.
All year long, our children - if right or wrong,
They will learn to let their heart beat with the pulse of this song.

Glory Glory, Hallelujah,
Glory Glory, ever true,
Glory Glory; since I knew ya,
Glory Glory, I loved you.

[CHORUS]

Until the time comes for me to go
I will forever love you so,
Until the time is up for me,
I will love you with all my being.

[CHORUS]

I like the reggae feel.... I think what you have here is a really solid start to a great song. Currently, a diamond in the rough. It needs some refining and polishing and it can really shine.

It really needs a singer vs a spoken lyric. The "bom bom bom" part could be a solo.... I'd personally recommend that you ask here in the songwriter forum to see if anyone is interested in singing this for you and maybe even helping to work on it a bit. This might be a cool tune to collaborate on with someone. Shorten it up a bit, get a really hooky melody, and this would be a really fun song.

Of course, this is only my 2 cents worth of opinion.

Yep! I agree with the "not the finished article" thought. Especially the sung part, yes, that could be a solo - I was going to put a piccolo to play that section, high above the rest, but ... I've had the longest day in the world and, in short, I was too lazy to spend an extra while in creating the piccolo part, mixing it, etc. etc. . See what happens if one is lazy? Other musicians notice ...

I'm out of practice in writing, etc., but that's how one gets back INTO practice ... by writing, no other way. So thanks for listening and for your perceptive comments!!! I'm not sure how much time I have to dedicate to writing and polishing songs of late, so I'm not sure if it'd be fair to ask someone else if they'd be interesting in working with me on this ... but, if my schedule frees up a little, why not? :-) Again, thanks!

Nice tracks, James. The write works.

Mic technique is a bit boom-y. And at 5:30, it seems a bit longer than it needs to be.

Always good to see you around.

You're way too kind - I don't think you've missed a single one of my songs since I've been on this forum. Way too kind. Thank you.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
