Thanks so much for listening and for any (and every!) comments.

WHERE IS JESUS?

There's this modern "spirituality"
Where everything is "just for me" ...
Where heaven's door's locked up, you see,
And lets us in, but for a fee ...

It's all about "enlightenment"
It's all 'bout "self-improvement"
It's all about what WE can get ...
And there is something left unsaid:

Where is Jesus?
"Love your neighbour as yourself"
Where is Jesus?
"Love him so, no more no less" ...

Where is Jesus?
"There's no greater love than this ..."
Where is Jesus?
"Than loving your enemies ..."

Nowadays, the selfish gene
We let loose like a machine;
We have never quite enough
And if others suffer? "Tough!

Where's it said I have to care
For my brother? Let him bear
His own fardels, his own weight!"
That's how hate we generate ...

Where is Jesus?
"Love your neighbour as yourself"
Where is Jesus?
"Love him so, no more no less" ...

Where is Jesus?
"There's no greater love than this ..."
Where is Jesus?
"Than loving your enemies ..."

And thus we give our conceit
Record heights for it to hit;
Meditate we do, for more
For ourselves, for evermore ...

We have never quite enough,
And if others suffer? "Tough!"
Is there another way, you know,
For us all to save our souls?

Where is Jesus?
"Love your neighbour as yourself"
Where is Jesus?
"Love him so, no more no less" ...

Where is Jesus?
"There's no greater love than this ..."
Where is Jesus?
"Than loving your enemies ..."

Where is Jesus?

James,

This might be my favorite of all your posts.

An well-written lyric. With a good amount of repetition that makes it stick. And a really good pace that keeps the ear/mind engaged.

A nice backing track, well mixed.

Nicely done!

Yep throw out the hypocrisy and live a life as you suggested and what a different world.

We like your mix and as floyd mentioned the arrangement keeps you engaged. A good thing.

Enjoyed it.

Be safe.

Thanks so much, Janice and Bud. Yes, as you say ... if we all examined our souls more honestly from time to time, who knows? On the other hand ... who am I to judge? I was just furious this morning with some things and I guess it spilled over into song, this time ...

Anyway, I'm glad you liked the song. I've re-mastered it and I think the track sounds a little clearer now. Should have done that from the start, but ... it happens, I guess. THANKS so much for taking the time to listen and to comment - genuinely grateful for your genuinely kind words!

Please stay well and safe, too.

Wonderful song James. Words are REALLY thought provoking. The world HAS indeed become far too selfish these days, and you've got my feelings perfectly in this song. LOVE IT !

Hi Musician17,

This is a good mix. I was kind of frustrated at first when I read the title, but then after reading the lyrics, I understood the meaning behind your song.

A lot of folks are asking "Where is Jesus" with everything that's going on in the world. Well, He's been kicked him out of the schools and just about every imaginable aspect of life and now folks have the chutzpah to ask "Where is Jesus?"

But this is not the meaning behind your song. And for that I commend you. Thanks for posting this song and it's content, for it was what needs to be said...

James, liked your track a lot. It is kind of bold to ask your question so directly, and I applaud your courage to do so! Really gets to the essential issues!

Loved your mix, especially the guitar strums that stand out so nicely. I don’t think you needed the little hi hat (?) loop...I felt it a bit too artificial in sound compared to the rest of the mix.

Excellent work!

Thank you so much! You know, you once again pinpointed one of my main concerns with the mix - the hi hat. I really dithered a lot on whether to leave it in there or not ... eventually, I said forget it, let's just go with it! I'll give it another listen to, though, in the morning ... I would have otherwise just left it there as is, but it's interesting that you pointed out exactly that, so I definitely think it's worth another re-check, so to speak.

Thanks for listening and for commenting!

James,

No doubt, this one is among your best—great mix and a vocal full of emotion and just the right prosody. And the write is mighty fine as well, and very fitting in these troubling times. Love how the mix picks up after the second chorus. Nicely done!

Stay safe, stay well!

Thanks Deej - really, really appreciate you taking the time to listen to these little musical experiments of mine. Really happy that you liked it, too - if you liked it, it means something has gone right with it, haha :-) Thanks again and you too, please stay safe and well - crazy times indeed, and, God/Fate/whatever higher power may be out there (or not) willing, I intend to do my best to be in one piece on the other side of whatever this all is - so please stay safe and well, too ... we'll need someone to make good music with us all once (when) things are easier! All very best.

James,
A very good lyric gaining power from the repetitions and matched to the best capture I`ve heard of your voice.
Sincere Hip Hop- I like that!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
