I usually record in mono, but accidentally recorded my lead guitar track as a stereo with only one channel input. Is there any way to copy the left stereo track to a l/r mono track? I tried setting the next track to mono, then copying and pasting the stereo track but it gave me a duplicate of the stereo track. Help?

In which DAW? Real Band?
Can you bounce the stereo track to a new mono track?
In Studio One you can change a stereo channel's mode to mono and then bounce, which converts it to mono.
I'm guessing there are similar function in most DAW's.

Sorry, guess I should have mentioned that I'm trying this in Real Band. What do you mean by "bounce". I've already tried copy stereo to a different mono track with no results.

Since you are using RealBand: From the top menu - Select Edit Try Edit\Track\Split a stereo track into two mono tracks and erase the empty mono track leaving the single mono track with content.

"Bouncing" (in digital): Rendering a single track or group of tracks to a new track, probably to be placed in the DAW project. This creates a new file and not a virtual track as in track doubling/copying.
In your case, rendering your stereo guitar to a mono file.
Good for many things and is a carry-over from analog days when track numbers were limited.

Thanks Charlie! It worked. And thanks to you Tangmo for explaining about bouncing.

Yes, glad those two chimed in. I don't really use RB except to generate and export Real Tracks.
Take care.

Most DAWs will have a feature that makes converting stereo tracks to mono.
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.
