Hi Folks!
A bit lonely lately in User Showcase...beaches, malls, bars?
Here is most recent tune I was working on.  I asked Ray C. to join me on this tune and he kindly agreed to help out with lyrics. A Flute user track by Pamath, that I posted recently was used in this tune. You can download it from User Tracks section of the forum.  Critical comments are welcomed!

Bitter Pill

Lyrics:
Woke up this morning
Saw the clouds had gathered
Wondered about the sun today
I think
That life’s a breakfast menu
You have to choose the best things
That can get you through the day
it's easy
--
Summertime - Feeling like a king of the hill
I am putting on a smile on my face,
crunching on a bitter pill
---
Woke up this evening
Saw the stars had gathered
Wondered about the moon today
I think
That love’s a sweet contagion
You cannot choose the object
There’s nothing you can do or say
It’s easy
---
Summertime - Feeling like a king of the hill
I am putting on a smile on my face,
crunching on a bitter pill
---
Woke up to shouting
Saw that nothing mattered
It’s so much easier to betray
I think
That life’s an empty chalkboard
You have to fill it quickly
Knowing it will be rubbed away
---
Chorus

Misha,
Thanks for inviting me to participate.
My part was a breeze as the melody and arrangement took me by the hand and showed me where to go. The chorus melody and lyric are classic bright, shiny, dark spaces that made sense of the verses allowing me to take things a little darker with each stanza.
ALWAYS a joy to work with you and have you bring my jottings to life.
THANK YOU

Cheers

Excellent song!

"I think
That life’s a breakfast menu
You have to choose the best things
That can get you through the day"

Nice! Also really like:

"I think
That life’s an empty chalkboard
You have to fill it quickly
Knowing it will be rubbed away"

The "band" sounds great, good choice of instruments.

Nice intro and outro, I love hearing that attention to detail, and man, just love the mix on this, a pleasure to listen to on the 'phones. Also listened though the KRK's, sounds great through them also.

Great work Misha and Ray!

Now that was an awesome song!

Your instrumentation and arrangements are always unusual, mesmerizing, and lush. This one is all that and is now my new favorite.

Your and Ray's lyrics are top notch.

I enjoyed this so much I had to stick around for another listen.

Nope, hockey playoffs!

Love the lyrics and the pads in this song. The vocal is very good and the mix is excellent.

You two should be very proud of this one.

Mario,
Grass hockey? Thank you for giving this ear and your feedback! Pads are of Halion. It is not expandable as Kontakt, but is synth rich and some of them are phenomenal...Easy to get lost in this stuff.

Boy that one threw me. I saw Reggae and then it started and I thought, this is not reggae. It wasn't until the vocals came in that the reggae groove hit.

Good song actually. I'm not a fan of the strings in a reggae song but that's your choice. A B3 would fit well instead.

Cool tune once I got into it.

Misha / Ray

Nice lyric and a wonderful vocal. Liked the mix of non-reggae elements and the reggae.

Good mix and overall production.

Really liked this one, not quite reggae, something similar. Love the lyrics and the vocal doubling,? not sure what it's called but it was effective. Really good lyrics as well. Pads were nice, or was that the flute? A winner!

Firstly, what a mashup of diverse RT genres. They sound amazing.

"I think
That life’s an empty chalkboard
You have to fill it quickly
Knowing it will be rubbed away"

That tenuous hold we have has been oft expressed but this is one of the cooler
ways we ever read. Brilliant.

Your lines reminded Janice of what Pablo Neruda said, "In the end everyone is aware of this: Nobody keeps any of what he has, and life is only a borrowing of bones."

Topnotch vocals, arrangement and mix ... simply outstanding and all the makings
for a great listen (s).

Kudos you two on a fine collab!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

This is a well crafted arrangement which kept my attention throughout. The ebb and flow is smooth and cohesive, good vocals. Great collab.

Leon, thank you for listening and your positive feedback!
---
Herb, Thank you for listening and speaking out!
I prolly overstated the reggae genre. It is more of reggaeton. I was actually aiming for vintage electronic themed synth, not strings. I agree B3 or even a reed wind instrument would make this more in line with standard, but in this, I did want a more electronic sound.

What supposed to be a reply to feedback turned to be a 20 minute read into Neruda's biography. I knew very little about him. Very interesting fellow. History never fails to fascinate. Thank you for your support and sharing cool Neruda quote!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
