Song #26 of 26 – You’re The Only OneThis song is sort of an ApologetiX-style rewrite of Melissa Etheridge’s song “I'm the Only One”. Chris and Glen were jamming on it and I got it recorded, but it was all in real time (no click track). This was also about the time that BIAB came out with the ACW, which then allowed me to run the song through ACW, get the appropriate tempo map, correct some of the resulting chords, and the add styles and RealTracks to the basic song. Not perfect, but was fun to do.
So, that’s the last song in our catalog. Unfortunately, now living 1000 miles apart makes Chris and my collaboration more difficult, but we’re proud of the songs we have created together. It’s not for money, but for joy. Most of these songs have been sung live multiple times at various church events, and seem to have resonated with the congregations.

1 Please Jesus can't you see the world's not doin' well,
We've got people alyin' and cheatin' and stealin'
Their souls straight into hell.
It's right and good that You are here for us all,
It's such a shame that just a few are heedin' Your call. [to CHORUS]
CHORUS
What will we do when all our feeling is gone?
We lose it more each day for a wing and a song,
But You're the only one who walked across the water it's true.
And You're the only one who speaks of faith and hope renewed.
It's just our fear that makes us run, but You can help us overcome
When all our faith and hope are gone, You're the only one.
2 Please Jesus can't you see we truly need Your grace.
We've been here before, can't take anymore,
It's the end of the human race.
Our eyes have closed to things that make us this way.
We'll wake up tomorrow, and just have the sorrow, that fills us up today.
[to CHORUS]
ENDING
You're the only one.

Since I’ve been teleworking since March 2020 (as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic), that has afforded me time at home to work on all the original songs my buddy Chris Werle and I (John Ford) have written. Chris wrote the lyrics, chords, and melody. I then transcribe it into notation, since Chris doesn’t read music. I then write the harmonies, most of the instrumental solos and/or counter melodies, arrange all the instruments, and put everything together.
All songs started in Band-in-a-Box (and some of them are over 20 years old). Then they were worked up in either PowerTracks Pro or RealBand. Since Chris and I live in different states now, I had to rely on previously recorded vocals and his guitar playing from old PowerTracks or RealBand .SEQ files. Because of limitations in RealBand with some VSTi’s, I did have to export the some of the MIDI tracks out of RealBand and render them to audio in Cakewalk (for those that RealBand didn’t render properly), after which I would bring the audio back into RealBand. But most of the songs and the final mix were exclusively rendered from RealBand.
My goal here is to post one song each day until all 26 of the songs have been posted. Some have been posted previously, but I have gone back and reworked all of them, so they are all new mixes and are different from what was originally posted.
Most of the songs are Christian in nature, so if that’s not your thing, that’s fine. But it’s our thing. So without further ado, here is the music.
