Ok, I tried the online chat again. This time, the experience was heaps better than previous attempts with the chat. This person was friendly and actually tried it out then and there.
He was able to reproduce the same noise on his side and then tried heaps of stuff with drivers etc. to get around it. Needless to say, he was also not able to fix it and it has now been logged as a bug.
So now I wonder why nobody here could reproduce it?
Regards Bernt

This is interesting. I just went back and tried it on both of my computers. One has the MO Realtek chip and the other has a Roland Octa-Capture audio interface. They were both dead quiet under your conditions. Both computers use Intel chips.
Weird isn't it.
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.
64 bit Win 10 Pro, the latest BiaB/RB, Roland Octa-Capture audio interface, a ton of software/hardware
The way to get it going is: 1) open BIAB 2) select a style. 3) Generate and play the style for a few bars normally. 4) Crank up the "All Songs Volume" in the mixer 5) If you can't hear it, mute all instruments and re-play.
I think it has to play normally the first time.
And exactly same on 32 bit version produces dead silence.
Build is 728 her but the previous 2 versions were the same.

Berntd is correct. Opened up BBW64.EXE I loaded up a random song, muted all the tracks and turned up the volume and the background noise sounds like a buzzing sound in the background at a medium frequency. Sounds like bad un-grounded audio cable on a stage, which it obviously is not. The noise is coming from BIAB.
I did not have to even play a few bars. The noise is generated as soon as I hit the play button. When I press stop or pause, it goes away but comes back when I resume playing. Got the same results on my laptop as I did on my desktop.
Did the same settings with BBW.EXE and it was quiet, no noise. Tried various settings, even reset it to factory settings and the results are the same. I could not make it go away.
I normally run everything through a mixer before going to my studio monitors so I normally keep the output from the computer at a low volume. I would not even have noticed it if it had not been brought up here in the forum.
To me is does sound like the 64bit version is introducing unwanted noise in the background when the volume is turned up really high.

Tried to reproduce and there was no noise introduced. All was perfectly silent until I unmuted a track.
I can confirm same problem is happening here on two pc's on 64 bit Biab build 728 ( one with external asio drivers and other one with internal was). All tracks muted and volume cranked up gives nasty sound
i confirm that if i mute all the tracks and turn master volume up to full i get the noise. but in real life i wouldn't do that. when i first just played the track it sounded fine so without the muting and all songs volume change i wouldn't have noticed any background noise using BIAB 64 bit normally. doesn't happen in 32 bit which i tried first.
however, when i set BIAB 64 bit to make the noise then opened the same file in 32 bit i got the noise which disappeared when i closed BIAB 32 bit and reopened.
almost as if BIAB 64 bit overloads the sound system when set to max volume. same track opened in RB (admittedly RB is 32 bit) no noise or problem

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows® Today!
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
