IF YOU BELIEVE

New gospel song, all listens and critiques are appreciated, also anyone who can tell me how to shorten the URL, would be a great help. Thanks so much.

IF YOU BELIEVE
COPYRIGHT ROBERT TRIPP 2020
KEY OF D

A RICH YOUNG RULER CAME TO JESUS SAYING
LORD TELL ME HOW TO FIND ETERNITY
BUT HE WENT AWAY IN SORROW WITH THE ANSWER
SELL ALL YOU HAVE AND THEN COME FOLLOW ME
FOR RICHES CANNOT PURCHASE YOUR SALVATION
AND YOUR WEALTH AND FAME CAN NEVER SET YOU FREE
JUST LISTEN TO MY WORDS AND I KNOW THAT YOU WILL SEE
THAT ALL I ASK OF YOU IS TO BELIEVE

CHORUS
IF YOU BELIEVE IN THE ONE WHO MADE THE MOUNTAINS
IF YOU BELIEVE IN THE ONE WHO FORMED THE SEAS
IF YOU BELIEVE IN THE LORD OF ALL CREATION
WHO CAME TO EARTH A MAN TO SET YOU FREE
I ASK YOU FRIEND OF MINE WILL YOU STEP UP TO THAT LINE
I ASK YOU FRIEND OF MINE IF YOU BELIEVE

MUSIC BREAK

THEY HUNG ME ON A CROSS NEXT TO A STRANGER
I HEARD THE OTHERS MOCK AND CURSE HIS NAME
BUT THE ONE CALLED JESUS NEVER GAVE AN ANSWER
HE WAS INNOCENT BUT HE SUFFERED JUST THE SAME
NOW LORD I KNOW I'VE ALWAYS BEEN A SINNER
AND FOR MY CRIMES I HAVE TO PAY THE PRICE
BUT REMEMBER ME WHEN YOU COME INTO YOUR KINGDOM
AND JESUS SAID FROM THIS DAY ON YOU'LL BE WITH ME IN PARADISE

TAG
I TELL YOU FRIEND OF MINE
HE'S ASKING ONE MORE TIME
HE'S ASKING ONE MORE TIME IF YOU BELIEVE

Many thanks to Mario for refreshing my memory on doing a shortened link for the song title. I guess these old bones aren't the only thing getting old.

Really nice song… You got me hooked right away talking about the “rich young man “. I loved the vocal harmonies… Did you sing those or were they system generated? They sounded great! My one area of feedback would be this… I would take out the chamber music Interlude and replace it with some sort of quiet, introspective piano solo, even if it was just a repetition of the melody Line. I think that would be more in line with the mood that you’re creating with the mainline portion of the song. But that’s just a personal preference statement. Again, good work, and excellent message!

Thanks Tano, I replied once but it looks like it didn't go through so I just wanted to make sure you got a response back to your comments. I appreciate them greatly you're a very good writer yourself I've listened to some of your songs ut I don't get a chance to comment often.
The vocals were generated and my wife helped a lot with the mixing of those she's got a good ear for that. The orchestral strings, she loves those so I left them I kind of thought about a piano but we may try that on another version that's a good idea I was considering that myself and the overall mix was done pretty well I think.

My my wife helped a lot with that too she's got a good ear so thanks for the comments and the listen. Thank you.

Hello Rob...

Besides the messages, what I find fascinating and enjoyable about Christian music is that it spreads itself all over the musical spectrum. It's not genre-specific (music-wise), it accommodates almost any and all instruments, it's never offensive.

Very nicely done. I enjoyed my listen very much!

wishing you the best. Please be safe ...

Alan

Rob,

Well done. A good production. I like the strings interludes (during the vocals they are louder than they need to be). The acoustic guitar sounds great. The simple piano works really well.

Good vocal (I thought it could use a bit more reverb). The harmonies sound great!

That's a beautiful song.

I do think your vocal could be more present, but that doesn't alter the fact that this is a very solid write.

Be well.

Good song.

There's a lot of high-end on the mix, or just not much low-end. Kick drum? Barely there. Bass? Same. Sort of like there was a high shelf filter applied.

My son (with better ears than me) says that a lot of BiaB songs seem to be like that.

The strings are really nice; love the ritard and the recap at the end.

Good melody, well sung.

Other than the overly bright mix, no complaints! Nicely done. laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

David,

Nice catch I have high end hearing loss so everything sounds bassy to me but my wife has great hearing so I depend on her perspective. Most people over 35 have some high end loss so it is not often commented upon.

Thanks for the listen and critique.

Hi Robert,

I enjoyed your song. I wanted to reply to it when you first posted, but wasn't able to.
"IF YOU BELIEVE IN THE ONE WHO MADE THE MOUNTAINS
IF YOU BELIEVE IN THE ONE WHO FORMED THE SEAS
IF YOU BELIEVE IN THE LORD OF ALL CREATION
WHO CAME TO EARTH A MAN TO SET YOU FREE
I ASK YOU FRIEND OF MINE WILL YOU STEP UP TO THAT LINE
I ASK YOU FRIEND OF MINE IF YOU BELIEVE"

This part of the song had such a soothing character to your vocals and your music. It reminded me of the song "Maybe" by Thom Pace a.k.a the Grizzly Adams theme song. It was very pleasant and uplifting. Thanks for posting it. I believe...

The vocal seems to come from the left and through an old telephone.
The backing is rich and the vocal thin in comparison.
The melody, harmonies and performance are good but it does sound stretched.

Cheers

Bawb,

Thanks for the listen and the response. I like knowing the message gets through. It's a nice reward on top of the enjoyment of writing.

Hi Robert, great to hear new gospel songs. This one's a beauty. VERY well arranged and sung. Excellent harmony, and I like the way it's simple for the verse and then thickens up slightly for the chorus. Loved you song

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
