I have put a few Midi Super Tracks Demo's in BIAB. Often midi instruments are listed but do not play. The track plays and bass, piano, and drums always play as far as I can remember.
So....why do the other tracks show up and not play something? I am leaving to see the Dr in a few but will be back in a couple of hours. I will figure out how to post a screen shot when I return.
Thanks
Billy Why is there nothing in the guitar and strings tracks?
Billy, I have the opposite problem. Sometimes (and even in the middle of a song) all of the Realtracks stop playing, but the MIDI tracks continue. I'm trying to discover if there's some sort of trigger that makes this happen, but can't find any common link. I just close BIAB & re-open, and everything's fine ... until the next time.
I'm not sure if this is related, but worth a try: 1: In the mixer, select Plugins 2: Make sure you have a VSTi set up for the first slot. Click on it to launch the VST plugins page 3: Select an available VSTi for the first slot,
BIAB & RB2024 Win.(Audiophile), Sonar Platinum, Cakewalk by Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M Monitors, Pioneer Active Monitors, AKG K271 Studio H'phones
Here is what happens when I click on plugins. I forced the bass to channel two but it still does not play out on channel two and is still playing out on the piano track.

(Sorry, not trying to hijack your thread)
I have not had this sort of issue. At first glance I would assume some sort of audio output issue such as audio latency. There are a lot of settings in options, preference, audio...
Hi The style that you are using only has 3 tracks 2 midi supertracks (blue) And a normal midi drum track 41 Brushes kit (yellow) By the way Real tracks are (green) When you load the demo song it puts up the standard mixer and shows what is set for the other tracks, these are normal midi (yellow) from your default synth . How ever there is no data from the style required or present on these track so therefore no sound. Hope this helps Mike
Hi Some styles use both real tracks and super midi in the same style. However the one you are using is 2 midi super blue and 1 midi yellow There are no green real tracks in the first image you posted using the demo song for M-Bosamid style Mike
Boy I sure wish this was easier. A couple times each year I struggle with all this midi in BIAB. After a bit I figure out the tricks only to forget them the next time. There is a way to move a single midi track with its original midi style from one style to another without changing you songs style. Instuctions are in the forum somewhere. And regarding the patches, that is a whole nother nightmare. As a result I have generally stopped working with this in BIAB and get over into my DAW a quickly as possible. Good Luck
+ one on going to a DAW straight away. I assume there are ways to get around most anything in BIAB...if you know how. It certainly has not been intuitive for me. I find most DAWs pretty easy to deal with except perhaps Pro Tools. Pro Tools is a world of it's own. Great DAW for live band tracking, not so much for song writing, at least for me.
I assumed Midi Super Tracks would be just that....Midi.
I guess with long use one can remember just what certain styles do. I am sure not there yet.
What I wanted to do was fine high quality midi tracks that I could take into my DAW and play out on VST instruments I own and know how to use without having to do a ton of editing.

Now that's what at least wanted for over 25 years from BIAB ..... it's still not there, and the workload is too complicated.
There's hope though, it gets better at it ... "someday, over the rainbow"?
These issues are getting less problematic but more complex. I find I need several pieces of software to get where I want to go. BIAB, Several DAW's, Melodyne, a zillion VST's just to name a few.
It is not too difficult to get something plausible, but producing a polished piece of work has always been and most likely always will be a lot of really hard work.
The most frustrating part of the work is learning the vagrancies of the software. Working to create the musical part is not so much work as it is fun.
Unless one has outside resources, creating music if pretty difficult in general no matter how you go about it. It is not everyone and certainly not me who can sing and play all the instruments I want to use.
We have the tools with the internet to work together as a group. Video conferencing makes it possible to work together from all over the world. Of course the delay caused by the speed of transmission prevents perfect actual real time work and the way we use the internet supports a sort of passive involvement in anything. It may not be like being in the same room but this does and can work pretty well.
We need to get smarter, become better teachers, better students, and more tolerant.
Cheers,
Billy

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
