Greeting Forum Friends,

I'd like to share with you our latest song www.soundclick.com/dcspacedog "Stay in the Fight"

After many years of building a great baseball team, the Washington Nationals roared back from a dismal start to claim their first World Series Championship in 2019. Their positive attitude unleashed an undeniable winning spirit. The victory united a troubled, divided city during difficult times and reminded us all what we can accomplish when we work together and believe in each other.

Here's the PGM data:

Hey Spacedog… So nice to hear your song early Friday morning, right after I checked last nights West Coast scores and game summaries! There’s a lot I can say about this… You and I may be the only two contributors on this form who have written songs about our favorite teams and their World Series victories! I really enjoyed your piano-based composition, especially the little background octave figures that you used in your chorus, and then the chromatic chord crescendo at the end. It’s always interesting to me how a composer’s primary instrument influences the way they think in their composition, and, as a piano person, like you, I see some similarities in thought And design. Really enjoyed the song, glad you got to enjoy the fall last year, and I hope my boys in blue finally closing on the prize at the end of the season!

Tano,

Thanks for listening. I've been enjoying your music for years now. You have a much more sophisticated sound and composition style than me so I'm flattered by your comments.

I couldn't find your baseball song on your soundcloud page. You're quite prolific! Please send the link.

I gather you're a Dodgers fan. You can be sure they'll get back the World Series soon. Probably against the Yankees.

About "Stay in the Fight", I was trying to capture the crowd enthusiasm so unison Backing vocals seemed right. That final shout at the end was done through a vocoder. New trick for this old dog.

I agree when you say how the composer's primary instrument how they write. Guitar used to be my main instrument and I wrote very differently. The thing I like about composing on piano is the neutrality and versatility of the instrument.

Take care.

I'm a Cubs fan, by the way. cool I work in northern VA where everyone is a Nats fan.

The organ really gives this the old ballpark feel. Nice touch.

Oooo. I liked that climactic ending!

Hello Space Dog ...

So nice to hear a new from you. it's been a little since we've had pleasure.

Loved the song ... I'm a huge baseball fan ... more about that in a minute. I really enjoyed this. not just because it's a baseball fan song ... rather, because it's a real nice song, regardless of lyrical context. I agree that the organ added to the authentic feel of a baseball-oriented song. Also ... terrific ending. loved this one!!!

I'm originally from St. Louis, so I'm a Cardinals fan. I think I mentioned to you once before that I lived on the Virginia side of DC (Woodbridge) but dated a girl from Oxon Hill, MD. When i was there (middle 60s), there was no MLB team in DC. But, I do remember well the Washington Senators. My father played professional baseball for several years, so I grew up with the game. The MLB Netwoprk is my #1 go=to channel!

Great song that raised my spirits for the night! BTW, I grew up just a couple miles away from Max Shertzer!

Best to you. Please be safe ...

Alan

A fun, uplifting tune.

And that was thrilling, watching the Nats win it all.

Take care.

Looks like we hit a home run with this one with you baseball fans. ;-) Thanks.

The news has been so depressing lately, I just needed to write something fun and distracting.

Frank, Glad you enjoyed it. San Diego is a lovey city and the naval port is so awesome.

Ezekiel S, I feel for you. At least the Cubs finally broke their WS drought. They'll be contenders for years to come. I can't take much credit for the organ. I could have played it like that but the RealTrack 686 was just right. It had to be the featured instrument.

Scott, I grew up on Long Island NY and remember the "Miracle Mets" of 1969. This was better. Thanks for listening.

Alan,

With all that's going on it's been hard to find time for music.

I'm glad you liked the song. I tried to make more than just a story song about a baseball team.

We lived near St Louis for three years in the 1990s and were big Cards fans as well. That's one nice thing about a long military career, you wind up with a lot of ex-home teams.

That's way cool that your father was a major-leaguer. What team? My father played in the minors and had a try-out at old Ebbits field for the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Max is our our hero. We lived a few blocks from the Hall of Famer Bob Gibson in Nebraska back in the early 90s. Never met him but saw him frequently.

Take care everyone.

Best wishes

SD ...

My father didn't make it to the Majors. He played for the Rochester Red Wings, of the old International League, back in the early 1930s. He never got called up to the Majors ... got injured. He was a 2B and got spiked hard on the wrist while turning a double play. He never played again after that.

Also, my son went to school with Mark Buhrle, retired P of the Chicago White Sox.

Again, I really enjoyed your song. It was a nice break from everthing. Best to you.

Alan

Lifetime DMV native here. I was a Senators fan until they left for Texas. Lost interest in baseball without a team. When Montreal came here, it took me a while but they grew on me. Thrilled, of course, to win a World Series.

Good song, loved the bass piano notes in the chorus and the sound effects! Good work!

Space Dog ...

Sounds to me your father was in the Air Force (I'm retired Army). I'm guessing that close to St. Louis was Scott AFB and near Bob Gibson in Nebraska was Offutt AFB. Although in the Army for 23 years, I worked with the AF quite a bit as they had no corresponding AFSC (MOS in the Army) and we assumed that roll for them.

Just thought I'd mention that. Be safe ...

The game is like a foreign language to me but the message is universal.
Nice bouncy arrangement to carry it through.

Likable story from losses to glory, I don't understand baseball but the uplifting message fits any team sport, or even life itself. I like the piano playing, creating sort of 70's Elton John feeling. Catchy chorus, easy to sing along. Enjoyable chord progression in the end.

Tune Monger, I remember the Senator's as well but I lived in New York back then. We moved to the DMV in '97 and only had the Orioles to root for, but they had Cal Ripken, so it was fun. We were so excited when the Expos moved to Washington as the Nationals. We loved the Nats from their first year.

Dave, Thanks for listening. I needed an upbeat, happy tune. Glad you liked it.

Ray, Thanks. Yes, I had hoped the universal message would not be overlooked. I knew not many people beyond he USA would be familiar with the team or even the game of baseball. I'm glad you liked it

Janne, I gather from that giant piano you are standing on you are a keyboard player too. You have a keen ear. The crescendo at the end was inspired by a similar chord progression in the song "Funeral for a Friend" by Elton John. Thanks for commenting.

We mostly bailed on BB after the infamous strike decades ago but the two of us did subsequently attend a WS game smile

It's nice to listen to a tune from you...been a while.

We enjoyed the write and agree with Ray regarding the universal nature of the lyric. While we are not keyboard players we alway appreciate the nuances of your playing.

Excellent!

Be safe.

J&B,

I know, MLB has been shooting itself in the foot for decades but I truly love the game. Deep green envy about attending a world series game. I gagged on the $1000+ per seat price. It turns out they lost all three at home. I would have been besides myself spending that much to watch them lose.

I'm fighting to make more time for music. I seem to be getting back on track again. I hope to write 2 or 3 more this year and release my second EP.

Take care. Thanks for listening and commenting.

SpaceDog - this is a fun sports anthem. Great energy and really keeps moving, and I like that main hook.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
