Floyd, you have another winner on your hands. I could relate to this song as I have said that about my wife!

You are the total package, songwriter, engineer, and producer.

I really liked your various reverbs on those drums. That was brilliant!

This should be on the radio today!

A very contemporary sound, without contemporary vacuous lyrics.

As others have said, the song sticks in your head.

Production is smooth and simply fabulously produced.

A track like this raises some questions for me - like, "Why haven't I heard this on the radio?" and, "Why didn't I write something like this?" and, "Why not play it again?"
Great arrangement - so much light and shade. Excellent lyric and vocals - sung with conviction. Peerless production.

My music may not set the world on fire but if it causes a glow in just one person's heart, it has all been worthwhile smile

Now this is getting a little weird. I post a song about a girl being off limits and wouldn’t you know? This has actually happened many times over the years. We had similar postings about Texas, baseball, etc. The next one I post will be so far out there it will stretch the the limits of your mind reading abilities to come up with a match. This is a modern sounding pop styled country song. Excellent vocals. Production second to none. An excellent write even if the theme was taken from what can only be described as our own psychic privately shared songwriting idea cloud. I can’t think of anyone better to have such similar ideas with than you. Oh yeah, Great song, Tom

Rather simple backing to a nice, straight-forward lyric - yet sounding full and energetic. Just more proof that a contemporary country sound can be composed in BIAB.

Excellent song and a great listen!

Best to you, Be safe ...

Thanks, Tangmo! Always nice to know that a song "sticks". Might ought to be one of the first things we judge 'em by... smile

Well Floyd, I read all the reactions from everyone and now I don't know what to write about your song other than it is -of course- a very nice, well sung song. And it has that nice 'Pop' flow in the chorusses. I like that very much. Especially how you used the double vocals in it. It gives the song more 'drive'. And your band has good chosen instruments.
I only wonder, did you played the acoustic guitar yourself (again) or are you still using the software guitars?

Excellent work altogether,
Hans

Still amazed by the number of good songs you write, Floyd.

There's a new country artist on the radio, Kane Brown. Very eclectic productions like this one and definitely not Grandad's country. So there you are, in addition to being such a good songwriter you're a cutting edge producer too.

Well done.

Good hook, very catchy, and it's one that will stay with the listener long after the song is over.

Love your vocal, and really like what you did at the end with it.

Mix sounds great too of course wink

Really good, floyd, one of my favorites from you I think.

Thanks for the nice comments, Dave. Surprised that you would flag this as a "favorite" (though not disappointed, by any means). I have tried to "stay current" with music - I listen to as much "new stuff" as I have time for, so hopefully, I can continue to produce music that incorporates a full range of influences - from my beginnings (early 70's) to what is happening now.

BIAB is magical. And there are some extra ingredients mixed in. I know you are well aware that to get a production where you want it, you use whatever special-sauce-ingredients required.

I like your encyclopedia!

Major CROSSOVER appeal! The lyrics are timeless. So, it could have been written years/decades ago, or today. Awesome!

The rhyme structure to melodic deliver works so well! Placement is so important. Not only within the lyrical structure; but creating melodies that keep it interesting. Masterfully done. Though, I'm not surprise. wink

Thanks! When someone thinks I got both of those angles covered correctly, that is nice to hear...

Great sounds from BIAB and loop choice is right on point. It fits what you are going for in my opinion.

That brings in the topic of overall production. Nice! Really really well done. I feel sometimes people thing production is tweaking the knobs to get a better mix in the effects rack.

What you showed is production. With production, if you don't what you are doing; it very obvious. If you do, it's actually not as obvious to the regular listener. It's all those little things to keep the ear interested. It's knowing when to make a bold production statement, and when to pull it back...to make a bold production statement. It's understanding how EQ and effects have to live in harmony with the arrangement, lyrics, and overall song writing. It's knowing the rules and knowing when to bend or even break them. When done correctly, it sounds almost effortless. To the point where, a good portion of song writers would feel "I could write a song like that" without even realizing what is involved. Where am I going with all of this? You just put on full display ALL of those understandings in a masterful way in 3m7secs.

Coming from you, that means a lot. Thanks!!!

The first thing that grabbed us was the outstanding lead vocal and the layered harmony.

A good two verse and a chorus tune always impresses us. You mentioned to me years
ago that if you have something to say often that structure is sufficient smile

Although on the periphery of pop country what Ezekiel said is certainly obvious as this
lyric is assuredly not vacuous!

Your always fine band is present and the finger snaps were a nice addition.

The arc of the build was really cool.

From old school country to jazz to blues to rock to pop you are amazing...
As Janice says, "well he is Obiwan!"

Nice art work also.

Floyd: If country really is trying to find itself like it says it is, it might look in your direction, should I say, listen in your direction.
