Hi,

Second attempt to record.

After a lot of messing with BIAB to make it work I was able to record something.

My one take guitar track...well...needs a jazz guitar player..lol

I had a lot of trouble getting BIAB to do things like play something different on a G7 than a G7b5. The chord structure is just stuff off the top of my head. I could never get the 13th chords in the inversions I wanted. Live and learn!!

Cheers,

Billy

You have the beginnings of something very good...it’s a very pleasing palette you’ve created so far..I suggest keep working at it.

Thanks Tano,

One of the things I like about BIAB is the many different genres of music. That gives me the opportunity to try to play over styles that are beyond my current skill sets.

Due to some health issues I had to stop playing for over a year. I just started back. I am trying to learn to play some new styles that do not require me to bend notes. This is a first experiment using a ii V I as a basis for the music.

Having played mostly blues in the past dominant seventh chords were common. Major seventh not so much and certainly not 13th chords or sharp eleven's. If everything stays in key, it is really easy to solo over that. As I listen to the notes I played it is obvious I will need to write out the solos to make it sound better. OMG, sight reading for guitar, what a concept...lol

Thanks,

Billy

Billy, your guitar technique is just fine, i.e. you don't need a jazz guitarist, you are a jazz guitarist.

I would like to have the guitar more up front as at times it gets lost in the backing tracks. Other than that this is really good.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Well, we are just a couple of old bluegrass rhythm guitar and bass pickers trying
out some Americana nowadays so all the chord talk escapes us!

But we know good playing when we hear it. That was very nice along with the
great tone. Glad you're back with it.

Thank you Janice and you also Bud.

Nothing is hard if you know how and everything is hard if you don't...lol

Sometimes Bluegrass is so fast it makes my head spin...lol Not sure if I could ever learn to play Bluegrass up to speed!!

I like Americana and find it pretty understandable. I actually like everything you guys do.

Jazz on the other hand is pretty difficult to rap my head around on guitar. It is a lot less trouble to understand looking at a keyboard. Some jazz chords were not made for human hands...lol

Cheers,

Billy

Billy,
Very cool free style Rumba. Nice playing! Why would you want anyone else play this? I think you totally got it. I wanted to mention, but Mario said it first: "I would like to have the guitar more up front". Perhaps a little Higher EQ on it? The only other thing, it ends a bit abrupt. This is probably because it is work in progress, so I figured that what happened. Thank you for sharing!

Misha.

Pleasant listening for a late evening.

The ending was a bit abrupt, though. wink

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Thanks for all the kind words guys.

Yes David, the ending could have been better. Everything was going a bit fast for me and I was just trying to hang on...lol

Trying to understand BIAB, my DAW, and play my guitar is not so easy for me. I also have the added distraction of my wife taping me on the shoulder being puzzled as to why I am not setting on the sofa watching soap operas with her!!!...lol

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
