My buddy and I recently did a parody song about a common activity on a modern farm. The song is based on The Everly Brothers song "Crying In the Rain." I used Band In A Box to make the drum and bass tracks. I am singing harmony and playing piano, and my buddy is singing lead and playing acoustic guitar.
I used Reaper to mix the audio, and the video was edited with Windows Movie Maker.
The video features pictures and footage taken at my brother's farm, including some video taken with my recently acquired Mavic Mini drone.
A word of warning: there is some extremely mild profanity at the very end of the video, if you happen to make it that far.
I'll never likely see A harvest time that won't trouble me My crop's in the rain but I've got propane So it won't be in vain I'll be drying all my grain
If I wait for sunny skies Harvest won't be done till next July The grain might be tough but it's still dry enough Though the combine might strain I'll be drying all my grain
Raindrops falling from heaven Always seem to make for misery But since I've got my dryer Propane I will acquire And chase the damp from my canola seed
Next spring when my drying's done I'm gonna wear smile and seed in the sun I may be a fool but till then I shall fuel My dryer with propane I'll be drying all my grain
Parody songs are always so fun, and it looks like you guys got creative with this one!
Thanks, Ember. It's been a bit of a running gag at rehearsals the last little while, so one day I decided to take it to the the next level and flesh out some lyrics. I was also itching to use my new drone for something, so it all worked out, I suppose.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
