Hi I noticed that the piano in all the jazz Real Tracks plays a standard Maj7 chord with a natural 5th when I type in Maj7#5. That's a huge problem as when I solo over the chord and I play a #5 it conflicts with the piano's natural 5 in the voicing. To get around this I just used a slash chord. Example for Cmaj7(#5) I use E/C. It sound perfect. Maybe the programmers could do something in the programming to fix this without having to record new Real tracks? It's not a huge deal as it has an easy work around. But not everyone knows slash chord equivalence and it may be best to deal with it. Thanks Mike
Just watched a Guy Macklemore video on Inversions and slash chords. In this case the E/C is not an inversion of the CMaj7#5 since C is not in the Key of E. So this is indeed a slash chord as you indicate. Thanks for reinforcing the learning lesson. And I am glad this workaround was so successful in BIAB. Guess those music theory lesson can be helpful.
Just for fun...I took my lesson to Scaler to further reinforce. Here is the chords and voicing in both the Key of C and the Key of E.

Thanks for the report. This topic has received a lot of attention this year, some of which is contained in messages to the development team.
I can offer a quick summary, probably incomplete:
Yes, this is often true (which can be troubling) but apparently not all the time. It seems to vary by the style used and some do play the #5. You mentioned piano but a walking bass can also blaze its own path. Try turning off Natural Arrangement for that song (or turn it off globally like some of us do if you want to hear the exact voicing that you wrote). Try a b13 instead; that may work.
I have also found in a few instances that reporting a specific chord in a specific RealTrack to Support@pgmusic.com results in a patch if it really is a reproducible error. In the early days of RealTracks, the piano dropped out on mMaj7. This was a disaster in Brazilian music I write. They patched it quickly as it was something with the index, they said. So your request to the programmers may not be off the mark; they just won't see it in this post's location. Give us a specific example we can verify and pass along.

HI Matt, Thanks for the "Try turning off Natural Arrangement" tip! I was able to do it on a specific track (piano) but I can't find the "global" setting to turn it off? I have BIAB 2019.
For those users who want to disable Natural Arrangements in all songs as mentioned above, you would need to go to Options > Preferences > Arrange > and in the bottom Left will be the menu to disable Natural Arrangements.
If you're on a Mac, it's Options > Preferences, and in the lower left.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
