Bob Zimmerman ( Dylan ) and I would hang out at Sammy's Pizza in Hibbing, Minnesota ( Bob's hometown ) in the late 50s so I wrote this in memory of those great times. Sammy's is still going strong 60+ years later.
Wow great story Don, such a shame you don't have a pic of both you and him together, but then you probably just looked on him as a great buddy, no reason to take a pic, and you never knew he was going to be so famous.
WOuldn't if be great if somehow you were to get in contact him and he was to visit and sing a few songs, but getting trough to someone like that, is probably impossible, so many agents to get through first.
Windows 10 (64bit) M-Audio Fast Track Pro, Band in a Box 2024, Cubase 13, Cakewalk and far too many VST plugins that I probably don't need or will ever use
Re: "Sammy's is still going strong 60+ years later."
Well, not just Sammy's. Like you mentioned, Sammy's is still here, and so are you and Bob.
Great reflections.
In the 50s, they were on the opposite side of Howard Street. I'm not at all familiar with this scene. However, the management has offered a free pizza as compensation for the four BIAB tunes that I donated.
My niece is a nurse at Hibbing Hospital and eats at Sammy's frequently.
I've been unable to penetrate Bob's internet security and his brother David blew me off as just another autograph hound or memorabilia collector. I merely want to reminisce.
Actually, I recently learned that a HS classmate lives across the hall from Bob's cousin so maybe he will contact me. Especially when Bob learns that I am in Hospice Care and exiting the stage.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
