Very enjoyable medieval mood created with the acoustic guitars and the chord progression. I like the airy reverb which makes this sound like played in a large hall of a king's castle. The charming melody is like the ray of sun dancing on the flowers. The simple strings are programmed very effectively.

It's a very pretty arrangement. Nice music. I like songs with lyrics mostly but this in a nice mood setting piece.

Hi Dero13,

I didn't know there is a Japanese flower called serenade. I thought it was a Spanish word, invented to picturize Spanish boys in love with a guitar under a balcony of a lovely girl. But no, it is a flower.
I have to reset my mind on that now.

Beside that, the song you made is very good. At first I thought it was going to be a very sweet melody where noting special happens. But I was wrong. A lot of things happened in your song. It grabbed my attention and didn't let go. I was fascinated not only till the end, but even some time after. So I listened again.
Normally I would say I miss some vocals in it, but here I don't. They won't fit in this type of song.
It's a very nice composition you made!

Hans

Hello jptjptjpt,

Thank you for your comment. I have some poems in my boxes and I will try to introduce lyrics in my next compositions. But managing the voice is an art that I haven't mastered yet.

See you more on your songs

Hello Birchwood,

I thank you for your appreciation. It is this pretty flower. I'm glad you liked it. It's true that without lyrics it's more difficult to hold attention. As I said previously, I will try to compose with lyrics but it is all an art that you master with great art while I am really beginner with these techniques which result from it.

Dero13,
Very interesting syncopation and articulation! Good choice of instruments. I think it has potential to explore. Enjoyed it!

Since you are open to comments, here is my observation. I think this type of composition needs a rest, somewhere in the middle. Slowing, or perhaps a short solo instrument in legato side of things. Also the orchestral strings. I would experiment with octave lower or maybe moving octave up/down at different sections or even playing two octaves at same time with different strings. Please do not take my opinions as from someone who knows, I do not, just thoughts.
Thank you for sharing!

Misha.

Hi Dero, wonderful instrumental and arrangement.
Note: Serenade aside from being a flower (I didn't know that) is English for the Spanish word "Serenata" which is what someone described here as someone singing or playing under a balcony or outside by the window of a girl as a way of conquest. Old tradition that nobody does anymore.

Hello Rustyspoon,

Hi Rustypoon,

I appreciate your comments because they can enrich this instrumental composition. Playing with the tempo (slowing it down from 125 to 100 for example) towards the middle is a good idea. Edz314 had already pointed it out to me. For variations of orchestral strings see if an orchestral brass set would not do. In any case, thank you again for your suggestions.

Hello CubanPete,

I thank you for your passage and your comment. I associated this soundtrack with a flower because the Spanish serenade should have been softer for an approach of the beautiful woman on the balcony.

See you more on your songs.

Just loved this. Boy I wish I had the hands that can play an acoustic like that. Loved the backtrack and the way you mixed the guitar. Well done. Some serious skill my friend

Very creative and thoroughly enjoyable. As for other listeners, the unusual time signature and dash of strings made me sit up.
Some of the techniques you use are beyond my abilities to comment on; they are a most welcome addition to the ever expanding forum talents shared here!

Hello Robertc,

It is true that I try to think outside the box. This style, people like it or not. I'm glad you're in the first part of them. In this soundtrack, I tried to give the guitar a classic playing with a tone where the reverb is important so as not to have too dry sounds. I thank you for your comment.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
