I have two questions on editing notation. I've scoured the manuals, tutorial videos, and the forum, with no luck. Any help would be appreciated.
(1) How to select multiple notes and perform an action on them? I can select the notes using the keystrokes and mouse (using the shift-click to select a swath), but there appear to be no options to perform an action on them as a group (delete, move, etc.)
(2) Is there a way to shift an entire selection of notes to the right or left (across measures)? I often record to MIDI and my timing sometimes drifts, and I'd like to keep the notes and just shift them a beat or two left or right. I've tried inserting notes but it just adds and doesn't really shift them. For example, if there was a delay in the recording first note in a measure, there may be a rest in the first beat, and I want to remove the rest and shift the notes to start in beat 1. But I don't see a way to remove the rest.
If I've missed something in the docs, please forgive me.

I don't use the BiaB notation section as I use the free Musescore. It has a lot of options and is great for printing a score.
But I have found it much easier to do what you want to do using the piano roll view (PRV). After you make the changes you can revert back to the notation view.
I hope this helps and good luck.
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.
64 bit Win 10 Pro, the latest BiaB/RB, Roland Octa-Capture audio interface, a ton of software/hardware
For the second, look up Slide Tracks. In newer versions of BIAB, it's in the Edit menu. Before that, the Play menu I think. This allows precision moving of any track, where you have 120 parts per measure (which itself can be changed from the default).
EDIT: And yes, the piano roll edit mode (called Staff Roll Notation) is the easy way to go here.

Much appreciated, gentlemen. The piano roll view works perfectly for what I'm trying to do. That slide tracks feature is pretty cool - I had not heard of it before. I'll definitely be playing around with that one.

Quick update - I was poking around in the options menu under Melody and I found another option to "slide" the notes as I was originally looking for. There is an option buried under the following path:
Melody .. Edit Melody Track .. Quantize, Time Adjust .. Insert Beat(s) in Melody
Since I'm working on adjusting either the Melody or Soloist track where I'm recording or editing MIDI. I'm sticking with the piano roll editing for now, but it's good to know this feature is there too.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
