Finally managed to complete this one. It was Crossroads' message ad the memory of his fine videos that prompted me to try some more green screen depth work. Nothing fancy - just layers of me sadly and none of Crossroads' humour. Nevertheless he it be...

I think Stefan will love to see/hear you honour him by this video. And the funny end where you named the band you played with... Very good. It won't beat Stefans'humour, but you are getting close! I am always positively amazed with your musical and filmish creations and angle. This song is no exception. I don't always like them, but they are so very creative that I have to watch them. Almost breachless, because all what happend on my screen. Kaleidoscopic is the word I believe. And your vocals in this song are more powerful than the song I heard before. I liked that. I only think the drums were a bit too soft compared with the other instruments and especially the electric guitar. But maybe that is the style of the song. Oh, and smile sometimes when you're on camera ;-)
I am enjoying your video journey! I sometimes consider making another video - but then think..."that's a lot of work!".
One question. You have the singer (you) to the side and then the guitar guy (you) and the bass guy (you) basically centered. One would expect the opposite - singer centered and band memebers to either side... so, why that configuration?
Looks like that green screen thing is coming to fruition for sure.
That was fun and the outro is worth the price of admission...
Wish I had the patience to delve into that...I found still shot/lyric videos tedious so it's difficult to imagine the amount of forethought and effort you put into this.
Cool song!! Interesting changes.....keeps you on your toes.....all of them work I think! Good vocal and mix too......love the processing on the vocal! Very nice!! Take care. Greg
Hi Ray, Oh, and smile sometimes when you're on camera ;-) Hans
Hans, as a school teacher for 38 + years I was in 38+ class photos and the same number of staff photos. There's no record of me smiling in them. Plenty of me wearing ridiculous ties, loud badges and granny sunglasses but no smiles. It's my normal response to a camera I'm afraid. Thanks for the kind words.

Ray, I admire your push into learning and exploring video making world. Cool cloned Ray video project! Thank you for sharing.
Misha.
Thanks Misha, I did learn a few things in this one...1stly that the shots of me playing against a BLUE backing work better than the green and that the computer & software I used, combined, can't cope with three levels of content. I had to render each time I added a new level.

As an old retired fellow it fills the time - though, to be honest, the filming and editing of the "singing" parts - the most complex and requiring rendering between each level, only took two hours. As to your question: the guitar and bass parts were done a couple of weeks ago and without thinking ahead the vocal parts had to accommodate the original parts. It took me back to my old four track days when planning ahead is essential. Thanks for your kind words.

"delightfully weird" Hard to top that! Looks like that green screen thing is coming to fruition for sure. That was fun and the outro is worth the price of admission... Well done -- enjoyed the tune again also! J&B
It was as a result of your words & those of Misha that I retained the outro against much protest elsewhere. I like it too. In terms of patience I have to offer that I'm an impatient being and do these things fairly quickly. Probably faster than when I was constructing videos from stills and online video content. For me, finding the right backing video is the most time consuming and I quite like delving in sites, virtual cupboards and archives for things that thematically fit. THANK you for your ongoing encouragement.

Thanks Greg, It was, essentially, an experiment using my electric 12 string as much as possible. The vocals - definitely an exercise in me getting closer to the required notes.

The "cool" and "weird" comments do ring true, and in a good way. But for me, the feeling as I watched and listened was "delightfully creative and musically provocative". It was an interesting trip down a not-often-traveled path. As far as the vocal, I think it was the best I've heard from you. My vocals are barely listenable to a good ear, but I still occasionally molest the airways. I think your vocals far outshine mine. That may not be an enviable bragging reference, but I think yours worked perfectly as a contrast to the musical bed on this song. The music is bright and aggressive, whereas your vocal is reserved and slightly stoic. In my opinion, those are good counterpoints in this instance.
Congrats on the video! I have no clue about doing a musical video other than a camcorder. That's probably a good thing ... this face of mine is a good fit for radio.
Very cool video and song Ray. The video really enhances the experience of the song - I "get it." You've done some pretty neat stuff in this video the multiple camera views and the green screen effects are impressive. The credits at the end are very clever!
Enjoyed!

Very cool Ray. I cant imagine the work required to create a video. That would definitely cut into my nap time :-). Loved the song and excellent lyric. Bass and guitar were excellent as well
Hi Rayc, "Delightfully weird. For some reason, I'm reminded of David Bowie."
I second this comment. If not Bowie, then some of the late 60's music, especially with the video depiction. It has a definite feel of that era.
It's cool that you can do videos for your song. It definitely changes the whole experience. But I really must caution you as video killed the radio star...
The video is definitely improved - like many I would like to get into this... when I stop writing songs! Your no-smile attitude is de rigueur for rock videos; wardrobe could be scruffier!
Birchwood was right: I LOVE IT. Great and most creative ideas superbly realized. And you gave me a lot to think about - like: how in the worlddid he do that amazing drawing at the end?
Good to fonally see you - have to admit I ptctured you very differently (hahah).
As Mickey Dolenz states at the end of "Daily Nightly": "Psychedelic!" I could go even farther quoting "Phantasmagoric splendor" but that may be a bit much. I'll just say I enjoyed this song. What a mind-bending production!

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
