Hi,

I just upgraded from 5 to 6. It did not load correctly and I had to make a few changes in the registry....easy changes.

$100 to upgrade $200 new.

My take is it is worth every penny. I use Guitar Rig every day so it is a big deal for me. I am unable to play through my amps very often due to neighbors, wives...all that stuff.

There are over 1000 pre sets. Some new amps, and some new effects. Less digital sounding than Guitar Rig 5. The effects can be used for things other than guitar. Vocals, piano, most anything really. Works in both analog and midi mode. It does not have a soldano SLO 100 Super Lead that I could wish for. But nothing has everything.

I recommend it.

Cheers,

Billy

What kind of registry changes did you have to make?

LOL...John you would have to ask me that now....You know I have been to sleep!

I think I removed both Guitar Rig 5 and 6 from this part of the registry.

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Native Instruments\Guitar Rig 6

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Native Instruments\Guitar Rig 5

Also C: user, user name, App Data, Local, Native Instruments, Guitar Rig 5 (remove Guitar Rig 5)

Also C: user, user name, App Data, Local, Native Instruments, Guitar Rig 5 (remove Guitar Rig 6)

Guitar Rig 6 would not load/start properly and gave an error message after I downloaded it.

I think this is what I did. There is info on Native Instruments web site dealing with this issue.
It was a pretty simple fix if you know how to get to the registry and know how to display hidden files in explorer.

Hi John,

Let's hope if you buy the program, it will load without issue. Native Instruments makes really good products. This is actually the first time I have ever had any issues with their stuff.

They are located in Berlin and have good help but both you and I are in Florida I think. I was able to figure this issue out with stuff on their website but I could have ask for help also.

I am very happy with the program. It is running in my DAW without issue.

Cheers,

Billy

You guys likely don't want or need to hear this but what could it hurt.

Several months ago I did a deep dive in my search for tone. It was an updated search after years of using the standards which included Waves GTR3 and IK Multimedia Amplitube and a few others which I never fully purchased. I tried to listen to any and all who offered a demo including NI Guitar Rig 6. In my hunt I was not looking for tweakability or most knobs or number of different amp models. I have no interest in building a rig. I was looking for playability, flexibility and tone in an available preset at a good price point. Let me cut to the chase...

I purchased the pro version of Positive Grig BIAS FX2. Months later I am still very happy with the sounds. Just sayin.

While I do like Guitar Rig, I've personally been happier with Bias.

I’ve been running S-Gear here for the last few years. “Feels” like a real amp to me.

There is a lot of stuff out there. Anytime I get really serious there is a SM 57 in front of one of the amps I designed and built setting downstairs in the garage. Only isolation I have here.

All of these amp software programs have something to offer. I think Guitar Rig 6 is pretty good bang for the buck. I have a couple of other software programs. I have been using Guitar Rig from version 4.

I have Guitar Rig 5 from a purchase of Komplete. It seems to have waaaaaay more presets, components, fx and options than I can ever hope to explore fully. Given that I'm still overwhelmed with 5 I'm curious what 6 has that could possibly compel one to part with another $100? Now don't misunderstand me...I have the $100 and will almost certainly spend it on something as we get into Black Friday season.

I've seen a lot of comments online that the GUI is much better. I would agree that the GUI is much nicer than the previous versions, looking at videos. The new amps sound nice, especially Bass Invader. ICM seems good if it will mean they update as often as other plugins like Amplitube. I doubt there will be a user-library though. I already have all of the "new" effects in their standalone formats so that's not a huge plus for me though I guess having them all in one place is nice.

Cheers,
Deryk

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
