Much of my reaction is already noted by others, but there is also this--when an "instrumental" is created by someone who is attentive to and experienced in the lyrical aspect of writing, you can immediately detect this in the melody and song structure--it is very obviously sing-able, once someone decides to construct a sound lyric to it. Attention to accent points, the important repetitions in the phrasing--these are all underlayings that can support a great lyric and vocal, as is seen here. Contrast this with many "instrumentals" that are superb but cannot be made into songs that are "singable". Being familiar with Alan's work--both lyrics and literary works--I know that this awareness of "how the words might fit" is a key element of many of his non-lyric posts. Great work all the way around!!

As others have said, silky smooth.

Lovely vocals, excellent backing tracks, and evocative lyrics all together in a dreamy mix.

Outstanding. smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Greg and Al,

What a beautiful, beautiful song.

Everything about this song -- writing, presentation, production -- is s-o-o-o-o-o polished. The melody floats along effortlessly and Greg's lyrics are the icing on the cake.

Honestly... music doesn't get better than this.

Really well done!

Greg, you without fail shine with this breed of song and Al, you are the man at putting instrumental BiaB tracks together. Tracks that invariably sound like a well honed band.

A band that is perfecto for the engaging lyric and melody.

No need to further parse.

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks

MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:

There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:

1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track
