Well done!

Yes, Marty has certainly added a new element. This song wouldn't have happened without him, he is far better at writing than I am.

Thanks, Robert!

Your brooding vocal really captured the lyric ... well done.

And, man, Joe B came to mind immediately on the solo!

That bass is not only excellent in performance but the tone and the way it sits in the mix is outstanding.

Enjoyed it big time!

J&B

Thanks, guys!

Chris is fine, she just has a lot on her plate at the moment with work and a couple of other things. We are hoping she will be able to join us by the end of November.

Dave & Marty,

that's a heckuva collaboration! Both of you did an excellent job. Who coukld not realte to the lyrics at our age? Marvellous. Great vocal, terrific work on the guitar, a perfect bass. Mix top-notch, too.

Really enjoyed the listen a lot. Thanks for sharing.

Anyways, wonderful job and thanks for sharing!

You guys on the west coast usually get snow before us I think. Although we could get our first snow of the season any day now unfortunately. Thanks, Ember!

Very enjoyable singing, fits with the story and the melody. Great bass and guitar playing, I like how the tone is bit lower, works well together with the male vocals. I got some Marc Knopfler vibes.

Nice progression, I was expecting a melancholy song based on the title, but this has more positive mood, even though "the end is drawing near." Ending the chorus with a minor chord and using the line "the meaning of my life" works surprisingly well. Very clever idea to go backward in the lyrics, like in the Memento movie, I haven't noticed that kind of approach before, it has a strong emotional effect (looking back at the past life).

Fbaulous stuff.
The I'm not excited by the drums but they do their job unobtrusively enough.
Bass is cool and REALLY consistent.
Guitar licks n kickk really well.
Vocals are well sorted for the song...personally I'd edit some of the uhs from the end of phrases but that's me - they give me the lounge singer vibe when & where ever I hear them.
Very cool tracks.

Great line, impossible (for me) to sing. Plus it would cause my de-esser to self destruct I think eek

Thanks, Bob! I always jam the solo part a few times to figure out the best approach before hitting record, and one time that little layla quote popped out. I thought it sounded cool so I decided not to change it. Plus they copped it from an Albert King song anyway, so I don't feel guilty about it. wink

Doesn't sound much like "Six Blade Knife" to me, but someone else mentioned a Dire Straits vibe, so there you go! I certainly listened to them a lot back in the day.

Thanks, Captain!

Well, I would prefer just come up with song ideas, play guitar, and do the production work to be honest, but both Chris and Marty have been encouraging me to try doing vocals.

Thanks, Scott!

Really nice job on this - loved the bass on it, and though the mix was really well done. Someone else mentioned a Santana comparison, and I didn't think of it initially but totally hear it now.

Solid work here - thanks for sharing!

Yeah, I figured the guitarists on the forum would pick up on the Layla quote wink They actually copped that lick from an Albert King song, but you probably already knew that.

Thanks, ROG!

I initially planned on ending the chorus with the E7#9 chord instead of the Am, that would have been the obvious thing to do, but thought the Am gave it a unique feel. Very impressed you picked up on that!

Thanks, Janne!

Yes, I should clean the vocal up. Problem is I've been spoiled working with a great vocalist, it's much more work trying to make my crappy vocal sound decent eek

And "I'm not excited by the drums but they do their job unobtrusively enough" is probably the nicest thing you have ever said about one of my drum tracks, LOL.

Thanks Ray, as always I really appreciate your honest and thoughtful reviews, I've learned a lot from you wink

Blue Attitude team,
Again, I am late for the party. Nevertheless, "lateness" gave me a chance to listen to this amazing tune several times during past week. Love it! Just good music, which is a rarity these days on popular radio (except for classical and pearls of particular genres). Dave & Marty excellent collaboration in all respects. I hope your tunes find wider audience. Thank you for sharing.

Misha.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
