Table For One

hypothetical fantastic blackhole sums
driven to master never play humdrum
chimera brain your ball and chain
suffer for the gift not meant to disdain

your wild and precious art
mind outruns the heart

reading vibrations in solid air
she holds the menu can`t tell if you care
could be your muse or a mirror of flaws
ask her a question find out what she saw

your wild and precious art
mind outruns the heart

what will you say to searchlight suns
the girl left waiting
how do you like your table for one
her eyes are closing

a bright idea find out what she`s worth
finish your coffee the loneliest man on earth

your wild and precious art
mind outruns the heart

what will you say to searchlight suns
the girl left waiting
how do you like your table for one
her eyes are closing

Guys,

Art rock, with a twist. Everyone playing their part in this interesting song.
Nice imagery, good harmonies and vocal, genre appropriate bass and guitar.

A solid all round collaboration well produced and played.

I really enjoyed the use of the cello in this one. It was a really interesting way to use the style as well. Thanks for sharing!

I listened to a lot of psychedelic music back in the day, late 60s early 70s, and I think you have captured that vibe quite well with this piece.

Your lyrics are always so imaginative, nice vocal, very cool harmonies.

Nice to hear Ray in there again, rock solid, and Scott always finds the perfect part to play.

Good stuff guys, enjoyed!

Hi there, Spirit Level,

I had to listen more than once, because the bass was far to loud...
No, I like teasing Ray, but he plays the bass very well.
So does Scott on the lead / Stratocaster!
and then there is Robert with his very complicated but intriguing lyrics: "your wild and precious art mind outruns the heart"
and his soft gentle voice, sometimes almost fragile, and nearly out of tune. But on purpose.
That's what I like on these songs, although I had to look up almost every word from the lyrics. But it's the big picture that makes it a very nice song. The table for one...

Excellent!

Hans

Spirit Level...

Always interesting lyrics. I'm afraid much of their meaning is lost on me. I like the refrain.

The overall Spirit Level sound is unique, refreshing. Nice touches from Scott's guitar. Cool that Ray has joined you again. I thought the bass could be a bit louder. Everything else comes through well. It is a cool sounding band...

Hello RobertKc,

Lyrics very well written and which challenge us. You use cello wonderfully. The vocal is pleasant but you have a splendid voice. Very gripping voice reinforced by double voices. Well done.

Peter,Ember, BlueAttitude,Hans,Floyd,CaptainMoto,Dero13,Greg,

Thank you all for listening and commenting. The song came from my enjoyment of the beautifully strange songwriting of Love`s Arthur Lee.
An acquired taste no doubt, and I make no apology for the cryptic lyrics.
I think Scott does a lovely job of appreciating the feel of the song with his guitar work and Ray shows he can play the more laid back finger style with aplomb;thanks guys, I think I got 1969 orchestral psychedelic out of my system for now!

Hi guys
Nice one. You've captured the folky/psychedelic vibe well. Like Arthur Love, you clearly enjoy a bit of free association, Robert. Always interesting to see where it takes you.
Regards,
Leon

Really well done - thought the lyrics were really inventive, and the mix on it was top notch also. I'm a big fan of psychedelic rock so this hit the spot for me. Thanks for sharing!

Janice is twirling around the room while asking me to find her finger cymbals!

Got the Airplane thing going here with the write and complete with a Jorma vibe from the cool guitar.

Dare I (Bud) say flashback? Janice was too young.

If we can't have a light show then at the least this deserves a video.

Well done you three!

Spirit Level & Ray,
Congrats on another cool tune! I find is fascinating to see such a non-mainstream and artistically intimate tune come together from people that never met each other in real life.
Fun musical bed. Light spirited psycho smile Easily got lost in the lyrics. Interesting harmonies. Magical Helicon plugin? Scott's guitars fit well and dilute tensions nicely. Ray did a great job on bass., not sticking out anywhere and supports tune very well. Interesting listen for sure. I liked the title / theme a lot too. Thank you for sharing.

Nice work. The vocals fit the mystic vibe. The lyrics are always interesting with unexpected turns. Love the electric guitar work. Bass is right on time. The other band is good too. Good job to all involved.

Robert & Spirit Level (and rayc),

Great feel to the tune . . . really like the change into the chorus and the lyrics that go with. I’m not quite sure I get what the song is about, but not sure it matters much—it has such a pretty sound, with some nice harmonies. Really nice on the ear.

All my best,

Deej
