Hi, I have encountered a problem with one of the styles from StylePak 9 (_Summer+) and I was wondering if others are getting the same issue.
The MP3 demo of this multi-style from the Stylepicker window sounds great, but when I load the demo song and generate it, it sounds completely different (particularly the driving baritone guitar which I particularly liked in the MP3 demo).
Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a fix available?
If I hadn't seen such riches I could live with being poor.

Hi Aubrey,
I'm guessing that you have the UltraPak 2020 and so have all relevant Realtracks.
Are you playing at the tempo suggested by the style/realtracks? It could be that BIAB is auto-substituting tracks because your tempo is too far removed from the recommended tempo.
To deactivate this, right-click on the chordsheet, select "Song Settings" and then uncheck "Allow style aliases" found in the right column.
Regards, Noel

Hi Aubrey, the same thing happens here. The demo song sounds different. Maybe you better tell it to the help desk of pgmusic. They don't read all messages here.

Basically the same I would say, increase the volume of the baritone guitar and possibly adjust with e.g. equalizer and you should be there ...
cheers Thomas

AUBREY. HI !! (my doctor says i cant have any more big english breakfasts after my surgury. boo hoo lol. theres a cafe in uk i liked.) re summer. heres a workaround, if you encounter a problem with any style. and it will work even if you want to see what chords are in ANY SONG. 1. set up a new folder in win, name it anything you want. test, or aubrey chord test, whatever. dont disturb the original biab files. (dont delete anything. ) just copy into the new folder the song your interested in // demo. in the case of summer (the song might be on the net as a demo on the pg site only, thus accessed via the net.) copy the song to your test folder. 2. open up biab. and open special , with chords, navigate to the test folder, and load the song into biab. wait a sec, and biab will figure out the chords. now SET BAR 1. and send the chords to biab. 3. youll now see the chord sheet. you might have to make the odd adjustment. 4. now start loading in the instrumernts you want eg baritone guitar, bass, drums etc etc till you get the song sounding like the audio trak in biab. then mute the audio trak. easy peasy. 5. if your unsure if a particular chord is right in the chord sheet compare to the audio trak. a trick i use is to arppegiate the notes for that chord in my mind, and then go to my instrument , play the notes on my instrument. then i play my instrument along with the original audio in the biab audio trak from whence the chords came, and then figure out any differences. then amend the chord sheet in biab. (a chord can either be major or minor, or an extension of such.2,7,9th whatever. flatted 13th only playable with a choc ice lol. whatever.)
remember to set the right tempo and key in biab. in fact heres another idea for "chord figuring out". copy any song or biab song to a test folder, play along with it, and see if you can figure out the chords before you load it into biab opening with chords feature. some of the jazz songs can be quite challenging for example. good way to learn advanced chords etc. on the other hand if your a chord expert this probably wont interest you.
in addition you can get numerous new song ideas this way. go into the biab bb directories , and copy songs you like to your own folder once again (dont delete ANYTHING.) to experiment with. lets say you hear a chord progression you like. (wow thats neat kind of idea, that floats my boat) but maybe its not in your preferred genre. not a problem; load up song into biab (open with chords etc.). THEN IN THE STYLEPICKER, try YOUR GENRES STYLES LOADED UP WITH THAT PROGRESSION YOU LIKE AS A STARTING POINT. try midi and real trak styles. try loading up many different instruments etc. etc. try loops. try solos etc etc. try play along melodies on your computer keyboard. try different patches in midi. try vsti plug ins etc etc. endless creative options to get song ideas.
hope this helps. oldmuso.

Aubrey and Rodipoet - the Xtra Styles PAKs require Realtracks from the UltraPAK or higher - is that what you have, or do you have a Pro or MegaPAK?

Hi Simon, I have the Audiophile version of BIAB 2020 (Upgraded from the 2019 equivalent) . I was under the impression that this contains all the Realtracks. Is this not the case? If not, what add on do I need to get?
Many thanks, Aubrey

Many thanks, Aubrey Hello Aubrey, RealTracks are not the same thing as Styles, but RealStyles do contain RealTracks. This is what makes them like a real musician is playing your arrangement compared to MIDI Styles! If you'd like to contact us directly at sales@pgmusic.com we can review your purchase history together in order to provide you with the details of what you should have based on any add-ons and packages you currently own. From there, if we determine that you should have this style, we'd be happy to have our technicians troubleshoot with you! We can help figure out with you why it may sound so different as well compared to the demo you're hearing. My first thought is that this is a Multistyle. _SUMMER+ is a country pop MultiStyle that features chugging baritone in the first four substyles and an electric guitar solo in the last two. Electric bass, two electric guitars, and drums are also used, so I am wondering if perhaps you are using a substyle that's missing the desired instrument and if changing the substyle might resolve the issue. If you don't have N/A listed in your mixer which displays the instruments being used, this would be my hunch about why it sounds different.

Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a fix available? I was able to duplicate this problem, which is an issue specifically with the one Baritone Guitar track. To fix this issue, you can download this small zip: https://nn.pgmusic.com/pgfiles/support/misc/rt3163_bt1.zipUnzip the file and copy all of the files into your "\bb\RealTracks\Guitar, Baritone Electric, Rhythm BluesyPopSteady8thsBrent Ev 100" folder, replacing the existing files. This fix will also be included in the next patch.

Thanks Andrew - That cured it. The track now sounds great!
Thanks to all the other respondents on this thread too - what a great forum this is!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
