Hi All!
I currently record on my old Roland VS-2480, and sometimes use Reaper and EZDrummer2 on my computer along with the VS-2480. Thinking of buying BIAB Pro 2020 but had a few questions:
1. Is there a demo version or is there a 30 Day Money Back Guarantee?
2. Is there a list somewhere of what instruments come with BIAB Pro 2020? I love the chorus vocals I have heard, as well as some of the drum kits, and really could like the pedal steel, mandolin and fiddle.
3. What are the advantages of the Mega Pak and Ultra Pak? What do you get with each of them that are missing from the standard Pro version?
4. Can I bring individual instrument tracks over from BIAB to Reaper with BIAB Pro?
That's it for the moment.
Thanks in advance for any answers, thoughts and/or advice!

Firstly, Welcome.
1: There definitely is a 30-day money back guarantee It's listed on this page
2: This depends on the package that you select. The entry level Pro Package is very limited. They are listed on this page.
3: Definitely go for the highest package that fits your budget. To a large degree, the RealTracks are what give the product its greatest asset. Refer to the packages above to compare the product differences. Consider Ultra Pak if possible.
4: You can export from BiaB and undertake further processing in any DAW, including Reaper.

Welcome. What was said above. Plus, the base program is the same for all versions. It’s the RealTracks and styles you pay for in each version.

Thanks for the information! Good stuff! Do you happen to know if the 30 Day Guarantee applies if purchased from an authorized dealer?
Second, am I assuming correctly that the purchase price of the Maga Pak includes BIAB Pro?
Also, if I purchase the Mega Pak, do they offer an upgrade to the Ultra Pak down the road?
Thanks again for your assistance!

Yes, as Matt said the core BiaB program is identical in all options with BiaB Pro the entry level option. The only difference is in the number of styles, both MIDI and Realtrack, RealDrums, Realtracks, and other goodies.

So the Mega pak is the Pro pak with a lot more of the above. The Ultra pak contains everything in the Pro and Mega pak plus a lot more. Check this page for more info:

https://www.pgmusic.com/bbwin.packages.htm

Also generally a new version comes out in early December so you may want to wait until then. This is no guarantee that it will come out then but in previous years it has.

I hope this helps and good luck.

{edit} Yes there are upgrade paths.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Boots, PG team is very flexible at upgrades/ crossgrades, but as mentioned above it makes more sense to "go for the highest package that fits your budget"

"2. Is there a list somewhere of what instruments come with BIAB Pro 2020? I love the chorus vocals I have heard, as well as some of the drum kits, and really could like the pedal steel, mandolin and fiddle."

I will try to answer this one...

The main muscle of BIAB are Real Tracks and Real Drums. These are NOT cut out samples that you can use in samplers or such. They are actual performances by real artists that recorded content for PG Music. These were recorded very meticulously, most of them even include Shots, Holds, Pushes etc. Real Tracks work by writing out arrangement in program and they will follow chord progression and many other changes that you will/can make. There are great many Real Tracks to choose from of many genres. In my opinion, if you are into traditional music genres like Rock, Pop, Jazz, Country (and whole bunch of others) and looking to make backing tracks or original tune arrangement there is NOTHING better than BIAB as you get a lot of original content recorded by some very talented folks. They do have a lot of modern tracks too and a loop library for different flavors. But again, having said above, BIAB is not a synth.

P.S. Note of caution... PG offers 30 day money back and they stand by their word. In case (for some reason) you get lost or dislike something from first look, I suggest to come back and try it again in a day or two, do not rush to return it. This forum is active and members are very helpful. You will get most of your questions about BIAB answered within a few hours if not sooner. Also, member Pipeline (above) wrote some very cool non-official stuff to further integrate BIAB to Reaper.

Further to the possibility of a new version being released in December, if that does happen, then it may have discounted pricing offered for a limited time. No guarantees, but historically this has occurred.

The 30-Day Money Back Guarantee is for products purchased from PG Music Inc. directly. When purchasing Band-in-a-Box from a third party reseller, please refer to their return policy.

Thanks!

Thanks Callie! That helps. Are there any sales planned in the near future, and are you anticipating a 2021 release anytime soon?
Thanks

This post might as well have said "Hey, I don't want to look at the PG Music website at all and see what is offered in various packages, can someone just tell me everything I could find for myself, quite easily?"

My wife asked if I had seen the dog bowl. I told her I didn't even know he could.

Boy, I had gotten such nice and pleasant advice and direction from everyone here (except for that last one). Thanks to everyone else for the welcome and information. It really helped me navigate what I initially found to be a confusing site. Based on suggestions, I may wait and see when the 2021 version comes out in December. Thanks again all!

Sorry! I was having a bad morning and it had nothing to do with you. I apologize. The people here on the forums are very friendly and helpful, and I am too usually! It is so close to the usual time that the new version is released it would seem like a good idea to just wait a couple of weeks or so.

No promises, and no guarantee past practice holds, but if you purchase within 30 days of version 2021 being released, Sales might consider a request to upgrade.

As Matt says, they are usually pretty good about things if you buy the "old" version so close to the "new" version being released. No promises, but if you talk to sales you might be happy.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
