Sea Of Blues on YouTube Sea Of Blues on SoundCloud This is a song about a guy being overwhelmed by his blues. It's one of those "Oh, yeah... you think YOU got the blues?" kind of things. Well, he's well over his head in the Sea Of Blues. I thought I posted this one before, but didn't. I know it was changed quite a bit based on your comments on the songs of others. Another great thing about this forum is learning from you all without even posting. Marty,
Everything in the pocket.
Man! you're bass so BUTTERY! Smooth and punchy at the same time. A great sound.
The BAND sounds great. Cool lead guitar (had to look back to see if Dave did that...). Nice vocal. Good use of the harp. Solid mix.
"Ya gotta stand on my shoulders to see the Sea Of Blues" Loved that!
Enjoyed!

Conveys the story well.
I'm generally of "more vocals please" However I think you could pull the vox back just a bit on this one.
I like the vocals and instrumentation. Vocals are well delivered and crisp. Perhaps it could be an EQ thing that's poking out at me. The vox and guitar pop out a bit too much for my taste.
Oh, what the hell do I know...........maybe it's perfect and I'm a crappy listener.

Nice blues tune, I like everything about it, the bridge kinda threw me off, but It's cool!! Thanks, Ronnie. Yeah, the bridge was intended to be quite different, like it was showing another aspect of the singer's life --one where he hoped to be like everyone else. Glad you liked it. And you reminded me that I forgot to include the acoustic guitar and a loop that was used for the bridge. Marty,

Thanks so much, Floyd. Your listening skills are another shine of your talent. Yeah, I WISH I could ask Dave to do ALL of the solos. Seems more time is spent trying to craft a solo from BiaB than any other part of the production. Conveys the story well.

moto Hahaha! Moto, Captain, you are so right... you are a crappy listener. HAHAHA! No, just kidding, man. You are absolutely right. I thought the same thing --at least about the vocal. Seems that whatever I mixed last ends up a bit louder than the rest of the mix. Thanks for listening and especially for your helpful comments.

Good lyrics, "I'm busy takin' out this plank in my eye" and other nice lines that are not lost in the sea of blues. Nice shuffle band, I like how well your bass and the resonator guitar play together. The bridge is welcome change. I enjoyed also the vocal and how cleanly it is mixed.

WOW, this is as good as or better then anything that is on Alligator Records. I love the blues and you did a magnificent job on these blues. Your vocal was outstanding, your blues band perfect, your mix outstanding, and your bass playing, well as been previously mentioned you are one helluva bassist.
You should do more like this.

Marty,
Killer blues stuff. That lead guitar solo is just perfect. Nice lines in the write as well (love that “you gotta stand on my shoulders line”). Solid mix as well—nice touch on the ocean sound effect at the end. Cool stuff!
My best to you,

That's a cracker of a song. Every thing works - your bass is great glue, though I would've preferred a little editing on the S sibilant sounds. No one else will notice or care but it was there a bit and when it happens to me I feel it marks me for the old man I am. It's not all the time either - just sometimes. I get the feeling you may have attenuated some of them already or used a de-esser but some escaped. The Sea of Blues is green with envy.

So someone backed into my car... It's in the shop and I got a 2021 car as rental... It has XM satellite radio and I dunno how to work the confounded thing... It's stuck on "5 on 50's" or something... This morning a Sinatra tune "Learning the Blues" came on... Put me in the mind of your song... Definitely, the guitars sound right out of that era. Your vocals sound just as cool...
Thanks for posting, I enjoyed the listen!

Hi Marty,
This Blues is a very nice one! I loved that baseline in it. I saw others wrote about it as well. Your vocals also were as if you enjoyed every word of these lyrics. They really passed this feeling on to me. I could see it started with my right toe going up and down. Then both feet followed, so it was a bit overwhelming... I haven't heard disturbing sibilance, but that could be my ears.
All summarized; a very enjoyable song! Hans

Nicely done - I liked the bluesy vibe on it, and thought your vocals did justice to the instrumentation. Nicely catchy, and the guitar solo fit nicely in there as well. Overall a solid tune - thanks for sharing!

My best to you,
Deej Thanks, Deej. Solos are the hardest part with BiaB. Sometimes they come out amazingly perfect, but usually I have to spend hours getting them ok. Cool song. I like that "Sea of Blues" hook line. Great blues guitar playing. Band was sounding tight too. Thanks, jpt3!!! That's a cracker of a song. Every thing works - your bass is great glue, though I would've preferred a little editing on the S sibilant sounds. I get the feeling you may have attenuated some of them already or used a de-esser but some escaped. The Sea of Blues is green with envy. Hey, old man! I was hoping you'd notice I cleaned up some of the sibilance using many methods I learned from you. There are sssso many Ss in the Sea Of Blues. Thanks for noticing. I think that would mean your ears are really really good like a young man's would be. Marty, I LOVE YOUR STUFF !!!!!
Everything more than just cool with this blues song. Your vocal fits it like a glove. Enjoyed it so much...
Take care,
Stefan Thanks you, Stefan. Wish my videos could be one one hundredth as good as yours. You are a master, sir. Take care!! So someone backed into my car... Thanks for posting, I enjoyed the listen! Stuck in the 50s. haha Could be worse. Thanks, Bawb. Man, that's the first time anyone ever suggested a connection to me at the King of the Rat Pack. Stuck in the 50s could be a good song title.

We would not change a thing. The bridge does what a bridge is supposed to do. Nothing wrong with an upfront vocal in the blues. This ain't heavy rock And when the vocal, like this one, is soulful and passionate all the more reason to let it sit where it does. We love the lyric, the aforementioned vocal and your bass. And we are shuffle nuts! Gotta mention that you made great use of that solo RT -- sounds like y'all have played together for a while. The vid was a cool addition. Where do you find such wonderful stock photos? Most enjoyable! J&B

A toe-tapper!!! I love the Blues, and this is skilfully done, so it doesn't sound just like "yet another Blues", haha. Your voice is even Elvis-y in parts, and - as someone said above - you certainly had fun singing this! Wonderfully, deliberately self-indulgent in the sadness of the Blues ... love it! Nice "sea effect" at the end, too - made me smile :-)

Yeah those solos are the hardest to coax out of the program. I often spend more time with them than the whole rest of the tune. Wish I could get Dave to do them all. hehe Very well done! I enjoyed listening!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
