LONG DISTANCE SATELLITE
BY DAVID SNYDER

https://soundcloud.com/david-snyder-gigs3/long-distance-satellite

V1

I KNOW WHAT YOU’RE THINKING, I FEEL YOU I FEEL YOU
IT SEEMS LIKE THE MADNESS IS WORSE THAN A WAR
AND WE’RE SPINNING WE’RE SPINNING, IN WEBS OF ILLUSION
ELECTRONIC CONFUSION, AND THERE’S NO EXIT DOOR
BUT I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU, I’D GIVE MY LIFE FOR YOU
AND I’LL TELL YOU AGAIN LIKE I’VE TOLD YOU BEFORE
I WILL HOLD YOU, WILL HOLD YOU, WILL HOLD YOU
UNTIL WE FEAR NO MORE

CH

OH I WILL BE YOUR LONG DISTANCE SATELLITE
I WILL BE YOUR LONG DISTANCE SATELLITE
AND ALTHOUGH I AM COVERED, I AM COVERED
I AM COVERED IN BLOOD AND SACRIFICE
YOU CAN CALL ME, CALL ME, CALL ME ANYTIME OF THE DAY OR NIGHT
AND I WILL BE YOUR LONG DISTANCE SATELLITE

V2

YOU’VE HEARD OF BETHLEHEM OVER AND OVER
AND SOMETIMES WE DON’T KNOW WHAT ANYTHING MEANS
AND IT’S HARD TO BELIEVE IN A WORLD WHERE THE POWER
MAKES SURE THAT THIS POWER IS NOT WHAT IT SEEMS
BUT I HEAR YOU, I HEAR YOU, MY HEART’S BEATING FOR YOU
AND I’LL TELL YOU AGAIN LIKE I’VE TOLD YOU BEFORE
I WILL HOLD YOU, WILL HOLD YOU, WILL HOLD YOU
UNTIL WE CRY NO MORE

CH

OH I WILL BE YOUR LONG DISTANCE SATELLITE
I WILL BE YOUR LONG DISTANCE SATELLITE
AND ALTHOUGH I AM COVERED, I AM COVERED
I AM COVERED IN BLOOD AND SACRIFICE
YOU CAN CALL ME, CALL ME, CALL ME, ANYTIME OF THE DAY OR NIGHT
AND I WILL BE YOUR LONG DISTANCE SATELLITE

BRIDGE:

SO CALL ME TONIGHT
CALL ME TONIGHT
ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS ASK, AND WE WILL MAKE IT RIGHT

CHORUS

David this is your best to date IMHO. I really liked the guitar and vocals. The dynamics are excellent, i.e. very nice build up.

Excellent work here David.

This is great, like a modern day Bob Dylan! Emotional but not cloying. Really enjoyed it.

The first thing that brought out that smile that says Oh this is good was that acoustic rhythm. EXCELLENT. I agree with TuneMonger that this reminds me of Bob Dylan. Man, that guitar holds me glued to the song from beginning to end. Love it, David!!

Enjoy whatever happens!

I like this song!

As some others said, this is one of your best that I've heard you post here.

The lyrics move smoothly with the driving acoustic. Brilliantly done.

Hi David.
I really like this. The chorus reminded me a little bit of Paul Simon for some reason. Great vocal. Love the drive of the acoustic rhythm guitar and the build.

David,

First off, like the write a lot—particularly your use of repetition throughout (“we’re spinning, we’re spinning”; “But I love you, I love you, “ etc.)—gives it a nice structure to the song and rhythm to the vocal. Kind of has a Dave Matthews feel to me, maybe even a hint of Counting Crows. Second, from a music production standpoint, it’s really, really solid. The rhythm Celtic Reel guitar really resonates throughout and holds the song together. At times the strings/orchestra jumps forward just a tad too much for me, but that may just be me—offering up for what little it may be worth. Cool tune!

Best regards,

Deej

GREAT GREAT STUFF David!!! I have played with that RT and really like it but haven't yet finished anything. I also hear a lot of The Boss, early Boss, in this. Love the strings or pad. What is that from? This is a beautifully conceived and executed masterpiece!! Take care. Greg

Hi David ...

Bob hit this on the head with his comment. Maybe you can sell your complete catalog for $100M+!

I'm not sure what genre this might be (alt pop-folk?) but it doesn't matter ... great is great, no matter what you call it. This is great!

Best to you, be safe ...

Alan

Hello David,

Always when I hear one of your songs they sound familiar in a way.
You have that gift to manage that. They all sound different and still be all your style (I hope I'm clear on that).
What was so nice on this song was the 'spray' of sensitive words, nearly without breathing while the song continues.
It worked out very nice that you started with the acoustic guitar and bass and only halfway the stringsession entered. That gives a dramatic effect that I really liked.

I enjoyed your song.
I will not say it to be one of your best, because a lot of your songs deserve that predicate.

Hans

Hi David,

As others have said, very much of a Dylan feel to this, but still full of originality.

The minimalist backing early on works SO well and provides the perfect platform for your signature vocal.

Good arrangement as it builds and an excellent mix.

Cool.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
