A good listen. A little Santana-ish mixed with a little Neil Young-ish. A cool sound.

fj Santana & Neal Young.........that's a good one. I can relate to the Santana vibe, but never connected to Neil Young. Funny though, I received another comparison to N Y, weird, thanks for listening and your comments.

Captain, Cool vintage groove. Jim jamming with Carlos? Strong vocal drive and arrangement. Got proper dusty feel to it. If you care, I think the only weakest spot to my ears are drums. They sound a bit midi'ish. Enjoyed it! Thank you for sharing. Misha.

The rhythm guitar reminds me of Normie Rowe and the Playboys version of It Ain't Necessarily So from 65 though it could point to someone catching a lift on a tempest in 71. Regardless of similarities it's a cracking tune. Well done. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvOQzxVyPMk&ab_channel=sallie6

CaptainMoto,
This has a Santana vibe to it, with a Neil Youngish vocal—to me at least. Like the write a lot and the production is very solid. I’m wondering whether the lead guitar needs to come more forward on the solo—see what others think . . . it may be fine just as is. Nicely done!
All my best,
Deej
P.S. I always try to write my comments before looking at others and scroll down afterwards. Just saw Floyd’s comments come up first—Santana & Young!

Hi Cap,
listened to this before I had read the other comments, and the first thing I thought was: Santana feel, Ventures guitar sound and Jim Morrison is singing. Most of all the latter is amazing - ever considered you might be the one every Doors tribute band has always been looking for?
Seriously, a truely great tune, LOVE your vocal and the production sounds excellent.
Really very well-done, yessiree, Cap.
Stay well and take care

A really, really excellent track. I've heard Santana play, I've never heard Neil Young sing - so I can't help with those comparisons ... but it sounds unique to my ears, a unique combination of sounds - so well put together. It works so well - bravo!

Janice summed it up with, "I thoroughly enjoyed it!"
That from her and I agree means, for us, no inclination to parse things out. Just kick back and enjoy another spin.
Nice production all the way around and your vocal and guitar performances are excellent.

Hello CaptainMoto,
Very sober composition with deep lyrics. Your less prominent voice reinforces the words you say. The lead guitar lends itself well to the relaxed atmosphere. Pleasant composition.

This is one fine blues tune. In fact, the whole album is coming along so well. What a great feel, Captain. It's a slow-motion walk with head slowly swinging back and forth as if waiting for the reaper.

Sounds like something that could have been on a Doors album, sort of a Riders on the Storm kind of groove.
I dig your vocal, nice playing too.

Hi Captain,
I see I am a bit late with my comment on your song, but here is my comment. Almost everyone compared your song with Santana, Doors and some others, but I noticed the Doors have the upperhand. Well, it is certainly not the BeeGees, but it doesn't matter where you can compare it with, it is your song and I liked it. I like that simple chordprogression and that relaxed voice of yours. It reminded me of my own time playing these kind of chords)on my guitar for hours. Well... not that long, but it felt good doing it, but I didn't dare doing that on stage. Now I regret that...
So, I enjoyed this song and performance very much, captain!
Hans BTW: I think it's a mix of the Doors (vocals) and Santana...

Thanks for the in depth comparison. I'm kind of a simple guy. Most of my songs are bluezy or blues based so, I tend to keep the progressions rather simple. I really enjoy listening to the old blues masters like Muddy Waters, he could make a few chords sound like magic. moto

Hi Captain Moto! Sometime back I must have checked out your music on Spotify and started following you. Every Friday Spotify publishes a Release Radar and it has a nice selection of new music that they think that I would enjoy.
I often listen to this playlist while I am at work. I have the volume turned down real low.....Just enough for some company.
So yesterday I had the playlist on and as I'm working I thought.."Hey that sounds like the BB count-in side stick".
and I checked and your track FELL NO RAIN was playing! Ha! my ears are tuned to the BB sound!
BTW I also really like your song. The opening chords made me think of Carol King's "To Late Baby"

Excellent work!

I like it. I caught a very distinct turtles vibe. The chords reminded me immediately of their song You Showed Me..... And what a gnarly fuzz psychedelic sounding guitar.
Thumbs up for this one

hey Captain Moto,
since everybody is comparing this to other musical references, I'll add mine to the mix. Right from the start it reminded me of Linda Ronstadt's "YOU"RE NO GOOD". But I also hear the Doors influence. The use of hand drums are what make me think of Santana.
You may not be a fan of Neil Young, but I think that comparison comes from similarities in your vocals. Not an absolute similarity but similar if frequency range. Or not. I'm just makin' this $#!+ up, so don't overthink any of it.
But at the end of the song, regardless of what we all have to say about it, the true test of a song is its "listenability". Speaking for myself, I can say I listened to it multiple times and enjoyed each listen. Mission accomplished!
(Is it rude to ask if you're related to Quasi?)

Nicely done and a nice guitar tone to match the song, very 60ish.
Good work all round and I've got Peter Green singing, meets the Doors, and a bit of Carlos playing.

Pretty cool that Spotify is pushing my song Your comment about the count in struck me though, there is no count in on that, although there is a distinct drum beat moving it along. It's nice to hear that somebody like to listen to my music, that's the idea aint it! moto

I like it. I caught a very distinct turtles vibe. The chords reminded me immediately of their song You Showed Me..... And what a gnarly fuzz psychedelic sounding guitar.
Thumbs up for this one Thanks, I'll take any comparison to good music I can get. moto Enjoyed the listen! Thank you hey Captain Moto,
since everybody is comparing this to other musical references, I'll add mine to the mix.
(Is it rude to ask if you're related to Quasi?) Thanks you for being a repeat listener. That give me a sense of accomplishment. Quasi? had to look tat up.........nope! thanks, moto Captain, this is really nice! Somewhere between The Doors and Carole King and that's a good place to be! Great job! T Thanks you Nicely done and a nice guitar tone to match the song, very 60ish.
Good work all round and I've got Peter Green singing, meets the Doors, and a bit of Carlos playing.
Peter Thanks for listening and your kind comments. moto

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
