Windows XP has been at end of life since 2014 (six and a half years ago), so to me it doesn't make a lot of sense to keep supporting an unsupported operating system long after it died. RealBand (at least for me) runs great on Windows 10 (even though I'm on a 10 year old computer). While there are a few additional tweaks, the 64-bit version is the biggest news, but it the package actually still comes with the 2020 version in 32-bit also (most of what is in 2021 64-bit is actually in 2020 build 5).

I installed 2021 earlier today and didn't come across this. I ask because most of my midi based parts use the 32-bit Coyote and I would rather not have to re-balance everything to a different instrument set.
From what I have seen so far 64 bit RB is more stable and smoother than ever.

The RealBand 2021 version is 64-bit only. However, if you previously had RealBand 2020, you can still use it (i.e. even if you upgraded to Band-in-a-Box 2021). Regarding the Coyote, it is 64-bit as well, and the instruments should sound exactly the same as far as I know...

By Coyote did you mean the Coyote WT (which should still just work) Or the Coyote Forte, which indeed would become an issue, not the patch mapping, but the actual sounds being used.
Make your sound your own! .. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome
as posted elsewhere i have an elderly retail boxed version of the edirol hypercanvas (TTS1 under another name). i mentioned it above. my version includes the dxi and vst versions. the vst version which i have just installed seems to run fine in BIAB 2020 64 bit using jbridge. so 64 bit RB looks like it will be a simple step up. however i won't be upgrading until the usual stream of patches slows down later in december.
The 32-bit version is not included at all with 2021, even an old 2020 version. What's happened is that you already had 2020 installed, and as Realband 2021 64-bit uses a different file name it left the 2020 32-bit still there.
The PG Music and DX plugins included with 64 bit Band-in-a-Box and RealBand differs slightly from their 32 bit counterparts. I first posted the difference and included screen shots when 64 bit BiaB was released but I don't remember the difference now.
I believe the Antares provided harmonizer plugin is 32 bit only.
isn't it true that in 32 bit apps everything has to fit into 4 gigs of ram? whereas with 64 bit the rest of your ram is accessible? If so, in 64 bit RB we should be able to use more and bigger plugins without crashing the system
I read your post and thought "didn't I just say that?" .. then realized you were probably posting while I was.(simulpost) Maybe I just type faster <grin>

what happened was, I had the post typed but not submitted... then I decided to google the difference between 32 and 64 bit apps to make sure... by the time I researched my answer and submitted you had already posted.
If I had any sense, I would have deleted my post as soon as I saw it was redundant. But then we wouldn't have had all this fun. ;-)
so unless we use 64 bit, the 32 bit version of RB will never change from now on?
there must come a time when functionality falls off compared to the 64 bit version.
does anyone know what 64 bit RB 2021 does that 32 bit 2020 doesn't?
Correct, all development for RealBand will be 64-bit only from now on. The 32-bit version you still see in your RB folder will be whatever previous version you had installed before (2020, 2019, whichever).

The DX plugins are installed system-wide and can be accessed in other apps (Reaper etc). Some of those plugins are 32-bit only, but the main (useful) ones are 64-bit.
The TC Harmonizer is no longer in RealBand 2021, otherwise I believe all previous features are still there.

32-bit apps are limited to 4gb of ram. 64-bit apps are limited to 17,179,869,184gb of ram. Let me know when you have 16 exbibytes of memory, I've got some projects that could use it!
Bob, 2021 RealBand has a built-in audio harmony feature. Right click on a tracks window, select Generate > Generate Intelligent Audio Harmony (with passing tones). This works for a complete track or you can select a track section.
thanks Jim! Looks like a feature that will get a lot of positive attention! I just tried it, and I'm very impressed! Probably a dry vocal will get the best results.
thanks Jim, when i get the new 2021 BIAB and B i'll try it but i'm waiting for the stream of patches to quieten down a bit - bet there's another one today!
Add updated printing options, enhanced tracks settings, smoother use of MGU and SGU (BB files) within PowerTracks, and more with the latest PowerTracks Pro Audio 2024 update!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows® Today!
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
