She Took Me For A Ride

She took me for a ride, in her little blue sports car
I didn’t know where we were going
Were we friends, or was it something more?
I felt I had no way of knowing

I was young, so very young
She seemed worldly and experienced
Women were a puzzle, I hadn’t solved
Illusive and mysterious

My heart was open, not yet broken
My clay was ready for the shaping
I longed to fly away, rise above the fray
Eager not to keep the future waiting

She took me for a ride, she opened up my eyes
Showed me a different way to be
She opened up my eyes, stripped away the veil
Showed me a different way to see

Glory be
Glory be
Glory be

She took me by surprise, forever changing
She always kept me on my toes
She took me to the edge, and brought me back again
I traced her every ebb and flow

My heart was open, not yet broken
My clay was ready for the shaping
I longed to fly away, rise above the fray
Eager not to keep the future waiting

She took me at my word, took me at her leisure
She saw all the way through me
She read me like a novel, always had my measure
With her l could be the real me

Glory be
Glory be
Glory be

Peter and Leon,

I really like the production on this, the way it builds.

Nice writing, Leon, lots of good lines. Favorite:

"My heart was open, not yet broken
My clay was ready for the shaping"

Good vocals and harmonies, nice guitar fills and outro solo.

Quite long at almost six minutes, but it didn't seem long.

Good one guys, enjoyed!

String rhythm guitar! Wonderfully written song. Magical how you build it. "Eager not to keep the future waiting". Man, this song really grows to the glory. Perfect choice of instruments. Well mixed, and super vocals.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thanks Dave - tried to keep it under 6 minutes (just) - clearly one of those album tracks that follows the single....

Interesting, disparate elements that you managed to make work together, kudos for that. Kept my attention despite the length. Good job!

Your song evokes a peaceful feeling. Love the harmonies--adds a pleasing dimension.

The first line of the chorus stands out: "My heart was open, not yet broken."

Ooooh. Love the guitar solo at 3:57. Man does that fit right in.

Nice work to both of you. Vocals sound like Dylan circa "Nashville Skyline" period. Wonderful lead guitar playing. Lovely little song.

Hi Peter and Leon,

that's a very nice one. Very good lyrics, well sung and perfect choice of backing tracks. Love the part when the guitar falls in and the BGV are also very cool. And, Peter, you never disappoint with yourt solos - even if they are short like this one they're great.

Very good stuff, gentlemen!

All the best,

Stefan

"Eager not to keep the future waiting"

Hey ya'll, that line and the solo outro are worth
the price of admission!

Leon, have you EVER written a throwaway lyric?

Well sung, well produced and we've enjoyed
our listens.

You boys are quite the team!
