Gee after using BIAB since 2012 I have just come to realize I really should go back and watch the beginner videos...lol. They say "if you want to learn a subject well then teach it". That certainly proved correct on this one :-) I am preparing an instructional email with video links for my Jazz Jam Club Members after three of them have all of a sudden shown interest in getting BIAB (I expect more of this happening). So while selecting good videos to watch I stumbled on the triplet entry as described in the subject. I actually posted to the wish list for this feature and got zero responses so I figured I should point it out.
This video link jumps you directly to where it shows you how to add a triplet into a song that has Latin backing tracks with 1/16th note vertical dividing lines. I tried it and it works. I also attached a picture of how you can use this to create what is essentially a funny looking 1/4 note triplet but it sure looks a lot better than the method I was using to do this with the Piano Roll. Now I have to change my email to the members...lol. This discovery causes me to consider BIAB better than MuseScore for creating notation to print (however MuseScore can have guitar tabs under the notation as well and all sorts of other staff combos so maybe not - depends on what you want to do - I use MuseScore to document guitar practice exercises).
No problem Jim. The first paragraph is a tip in itself. In the email I put together for my club members that express interest in BIAB I have a link to that other copy of this thread's post #1. It recommends they watch the PG-Music Videos in addition to poking around and experimenting which most have to also do. The problem with just poking around and experimenting is there are features you will never find that are hidden in the videos etc. It is best to watch the videos and experiment with each thing presented one at a time (it sticks in the mind better).
If I need triplets in an even (rather than swing) song, I have two methods. First, switch to any swing style, input your triplet, then return to your even style. Second, check the triplet box - top left - in the print options. Again, uncheck the box when complete.
The print out will likely be a little odd, but you can always print it with the triplet box checked and it will look fine and play as expected.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows® Today!
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
