Dan, after you get to play with it a bit, do tell us about the weighted action. How well it plays/feels compared to an acoustic piano. There have been lots of improvements over the years.

Yes, please do. I've had this keyboard on my wishlist for a while. That seems like an awesome price for weighted.

Just delivered to my home. That is roughly 24 hours from sweetwater warehouse to my house. That has to be a record?? Now for the unboxing video.

Of course the real heros these days are our medical staff, but in this case I have to give a node to the FedEx, UPS and USPS folks. They are doing a bang up job.

If you believe Google Maps, we live almost exactly the same distance from Sweetwater. I get that same next day time window. They are awesome. And the people there are great. If Covid allows I hope to go to Gearfest this June. I wanted to go last year but it ended up being virtual. I watched most of the demo videos.

I wonder if I own stock yet with the amount of money I have spent there.

Nice keyboard! I always liked the Studiologic stuff for the price, played many of them over the years working at a music shop. Never got myself one though as I've had a Yamaha S90 for years - the action on it is still nearly unbeatable at any price, but for the price of free it was even better!

Dan/Eddie, maybe we could meet at a future gear fest there at Sweetwater. Not too far for any of us. Packages from there get here to St. Louis pretty fast too.

I bought a synth from there a couple months ago and it got here the next business day. I'm pretty sure they warehouse stuff across the US and my synth probably started it's journey within a few hundred miles from here.
I'm guessing your location probably has a warehouse near there too.

3 people involved in this thread all live the same distance from Sweetwater +/- about 20 miles. Steve is furthest at 365. I am 211, you are 220 (per Google maps). Dan is about 215.

Many years ago I drove there because I was buying a guitar and wanted to TOUCH it. They let me handle close to a dozen Les Paul Standards before I bought #4.

I am thinking of getting my Guitar from Sweetwater. I live within a day's driving distance. Was thinking it would be a nice trip and maybe stay over night.

This is future planning. Nothing definite.

That Sweetwater campus is something to see! Restaurant, snack bar, cafeteria, performance/demo rooms... it's huge.

I've been a Sweetwater purchaser for over 10 years myself and have never made it to the gear fest. I always see the articles about it in their mail fliers and it looks fun. I look forward to going to one maybe next year or later.

If I go I will take my trailer and generator so I can run the AC. I think they'd be fine with me pulling Chunk around in the buggy as I go to the outdoor exhibits. Inside stuff is probably not going to fly, so he'll have to go into the trailer if I go to any demos inside. With the AC running he'll be fine, but the June heat beating down on that aluminum box es no bueno for a dog. And if I go, that would be the start of a trip up to the UP of that state up north.

I will go into that state up north. I just can't say the name!

Sweetwater 2021 or Bust for all us Midwesterners sounds like a good idea.

Weekend of June 27th. If we do all go, bring me gifts. June 27th is my birthday! I won't say which one, but I will say this one is going to hurt.

I have never been more sure about anything than that! I plan to try and find out from a local how a word that ends with "nac" is pronounced like it ends with "naw"!

I will spend a night at the casino on the mainland, drive over, spend a day seeing as much as I can of the UP, park at a spot I know of where I can stay overnight for free, then spend day 2 seeing more before crossing back and hitting the casino again, and then deciding if I head home through that state up north or go west into cheeseland to avoid it...

I just looked at Sweetwater and it appears they are accepting/declaring that Gearfest is going to be virtual again. And I JUST found a spot in Greenville where I could park overnight after leaving Fort Wayne!

I'll be honest Dan, it borders on being too complex. Spending more time figuring it out than making music.

I bought a used Motif once. Had it 3 hours and returned it. I don't want a keyboard SO fully featured that I need an advanced degree in electronics to use it.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
