So, I just started with BIAB, intending to use it primarily for backing tracks for live performance …
I'm used to working with step input in Logic Pro X, and while I realize BIAB is not a DAW as such, I'm kinda frustrated with the piano roll for the following reason …

I'm working on an MGU of Zingaro, by Tom Jobim, using just bass guitar and drum channels. The guitar rhythm is adequate for now, but I'm substituting the chord inversions with those from the Almir Chediak Bossa Nova Songbook (more "Brazilian").

My problem is——currently I have the Piano Roll window displaying measures 26 thru 34 and want to scroll back to 20 or so, but can't figure out how to do it.
The manual is of no help on this. The only workaround I have come up with is to select the desired measure in the chord entry Fake sheet (fortunately I have two monitors!)which puts me where I want to be.
This seems incredibly clunky——I should point out I'm on an iMac).
In Logic all I have to do is hold pointer at either end of visible piano roll to make it scroll——what am I missing?
Am I going to have to open up the DAW plugin, drag the track into Logic, tweak it there and then drag it back into BIAB? Please say it isn't so!!

The answer to scroll back/forward is to use this method, however, upon further reading I see you are on Mac and I don't know if that version has this feature. A Mac user might confirm.

As a further thought, you may consider posting this also in the BiaB for Macintosh forum pages
It will likely get better attention there directly from mac users.

PVjf1,

Welcome to the forum and to Band-in-a-Box or BiaB for short!

In case you come back to this post or someone else finds this post in a search, the 2020 BiaB for Mac User Manual, pages 257 to 261 describe use of the Piano Roll View (PRV).

The instructions to move the cursor to different points of a song were copied from the manual and displayed below:
Quote:

Click or drag in the Chords Ruler to set the insertion point. If the song is playing, a Chords Ruler click will stop playback. Double-click in the Chords Ruler to start playback at the indicated bar. You can also set the insertion point and then tap Control+F to start playback at the desired location.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
