Hi the Members of biab,

On this site, little electro music is offered. This is due to the available realtracks which are few in number (as in the symphony orchestra). To compose electro music, I start from vst biab for chords, I look for midi biab files (often forgotten by the years) which can give a melody. If so, I replace the sounds with electro vst and it works. For this composition, I selected vst sample logics and heavyocity to give a cachet and perfect the arrangement. In my daw studio, I imported my chords, which made it easier for me with the other solo midi tracks from Biab. And it works. Electro music is mainly based on an assembly of loops offered by specific vsts. The work is based more on sound than on melody. Now, the result may or may not be popular. But here I am showing an opening with my favorite biab tool. The next soundtrack, I will only do it with biab realtracks.

It's up to you to judge, but feedback would be a pleasure to allow me to progress.

Thank you again to the community.

This soundtrack (style movie music) bears the name of Green line. The link is

Hi Dany,

Thank you for this nice compliment. I tried to show that Biab is a great tool especially with its vst. Composing electro is rare on this site and I wanted to show that the more administrators develop realtracks of all styles, the more their product will be highlighted the more they will have a commercial success but only the staff is he aware of it ?

Hi CaptainMoto,

Whatever the style, I wanted to show that Biab is a facilitating tool for any composer, especially with the last vst which is super well done. Here, it's a soundtrack of loops on predefined melodic lines. The game is here to choose the right loops to create something coherent

Thank you for passing on this atypical Biab composition and for having commented

Reminds me of the work of Jean-Michel Jarre (1970s). Interesting vibe and well put together.

That is really effective...I'm not a MIDI fan, preferring analogue sythn based electronica BUT good is good and this is good.
This is my, current, fave place for analogue electronic music of late...

Well done.

Ghostgum mentioned it already - but for me as well, this reminds me of Jean-Michel Jarre as well. You should be proud - really showing how far you can stretch Band-in-a-Box's capabilities! Thanks for sharing smile

Derochette,

This is EXCELLENT! Great music. Done well. Great mix.

I enjoyed your discussion of BIAB and how it can (and cannot) be used to create certain styles of music. Like you, I use loops (as discussed in my current song), but in a different way and probably not as much as you do.
I think you are going about it the right way. Use BIAB for what it works for and work around the things that are needed.
Personally, I do not think that PGMusic should try to make BIAB cover EVERYTHING. Some things are better left to other sources. (Your orchestra sounds, for instance).
You've done a great job of using the tools available in the best way.

This is truly EXCEPTIONAL.

Keep it up!!

Hi Ghostgum,

You are totally right. Michel Jarre I think I bring a lot to electro. Your comment is flattering. Thank you.

Hi rayc,

With the right tools anyone can play electro. Many make it in younger children by adding accapella and well-suited drums. But often the originality and the melody are absent, unlike the musicians who deposit their compositions on this site. I appreciated your comment and it's true that producing an electro soundtrack with a synth is far more rewarding.
Thanks to you.

Hi Deryk,

It is an honor to read your comment. Your vst really meets the demand of the users of your tool and I thank you for it. To create compositions or soundtracks, everyone has their own working method, but it is clear that Biab is a facilitating tool in all styles. Creating realtracks in electro would be a waste of time given the vsts on the market and their rich and entertaining bookstore. On the other hand, in orchestral, it would be nice to have a larger panel including several quartet realtracks in different tempos.

Thank you for your nice comment.

Hi floyd jane,

Hi floyd jane,

It's always a pleasure to read your comments. From one soundtrack to another, I use different ways of composing but I always start from Biab. What I also noticed is the richness of the oldest midi styles (often forgotten) in which we can take ideas. In electro, I rarely composed but I like to try my hand at different styles. Here I am glad you enjoyed this essay. Thanks to you.

This is not a genre I would normally listen to, but this is great, enjoyed it from start to finish.

Well done!

Another excellent example of pushing the boundaries, possibly far beyond most peoples comfort zone.

The structure is interesting and vibrant, full of surprises.

An excellent delivery of esoteric musical sounds.

Hi Derochette
Make your own Usertracks....read on.
I agree with your concerns about the lack of biab "Electro" options. MIDI was a dirty word for many years but is now making a comeback with improved patches and VST's . It has many advantages over loops such as note manipulation , quantising, easy key and tempo changes. The challenge I find with loops is to have a beginning, middle and end that doesn't all sound the same . At the moment I am auditioning my synths for good "Techno" sounds to use on my own usertracks . The advantage of usertracks is that you have your favourite sounds instantly at hand ; we all know how quickly that brilliant melody idea can go flying out the window! Oh and I forgot ... I enjoyed your track .
My 2¢
Gary.

Whoa, Jani!! Floored me, then knocked me out. Gave it a couple spins and my appreciation and respect grew 10-fold. Dang, dude, this is a great movie track. It can be used in nearly every movie genre.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hi VideoTrack,

Thank you for your appreciation, but it's easier for me to get out of my comfort zone because I have some good electro vst. And then I really like to experiment with other styles where I'm not a specialist.

Hi Gary,

What you are saying is absolutely true. But I come back to the last version of Biab which from a realtrack gives us the midi version and we can easily change instrument with a vst. I take for example, one of my soundtracks "Rondo of love" where I replaced a violin track by a vst mandolin. I did not take the midi track as is but I adapted it according to the instrument. Noon still has some bright days ahead of it. Finally thank you for your nice comment.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
