I started this song in January of last year & the actual song was completed about three weeks ago and no there's A VIDEO to help the medicinal smelling tune go down. In March Misha/Rustyspoon did a melody and vocal take for me but wasn't keen on being THE voice in the song. A couple of vocalists later it has a voice that's happy to be there. BIAB provides: Piano & Drums matched with Vantage Bass, Harley Benton 12 String & Squire Mustang. Tracked and mixed in REAPER Mastered, as usual, by Fran Ashcroft of Happy Beat Studio.
Good job Ray. In nitpicking mode I would suggest your vocalist tone seems lost and he could be brought forward a little or the rhythm guitar brought back.
Ha! Ray wow, completely different feel! Bob done a spotless job on this. Very confident! Mix / mastering is VERY good. "medicinal smelling tune" LOL! It is always interesting to see people in action, video helps. Thank you for sharing.
Misha.
P.S. Side note... I think vocals are a bit too "clean" for the genre. Could use some mojo / tube goodness, to make it slightly fuzzy.
Loved it! Found the video distracting so just listened to the music - EXCELLENT! AS one who has 'budget' guitars in his arsenal, its good to hear H-B and Squier sounding great in the mix. Ian

Really cool song. It's my favorite of yours so far. Your vocalist did a real nice job for you. The bass is spot on ... as is everything else in the song. Liked the video, too! It reminded me of my days back in the late 50s and 60s. Nice!
Good song, Ray, your vocalist did a fine job for you as did the guitarist. Solid job on the bass of course Nice work on the video as per usual, what program are you using for that?
Thank you Sir. I use a cheapie - Wondershare Video Editor. It'd horrify proper vid people but it's pretty cool for my purposes.

Vic, Thank you. The song has already been professionally mastered so I won't be tweaking it. The vocal level is as desired by the singer and the left rhythm guitar is a little louder than the right one as the lead licks happen on the right. I'll keep the suggestions in mind for the next song.

I was VERY happy with your version - except for the lead guitar. Yes, Bob's lead work on this really lifts it. I've used saturation and distortion on Tony's voice before - to good effect - he sang on Algorithmic Reality that featured you & Katya, but he'd only just recovered from a vocal chord injury and was keen to do a clean performance that demonstrated to himself that he'd recovered. I didn't have the heart to scuzz it up on him after that.

ray, Sounds good to me. A good balance. Your bass sounds great. Guitars panned well and balanced. Vocal sits perfectly in the mix. Nice solo. Enjoyed. fj

Thanks Ian, I'm just a budget gear sort of person. The only non budget thing in my set up is a Fender acoustic 12 string and that wasn't MIA so probably rates as budget too. Glad you liked it. Oh, the HB 12 is FAB. I generally prefer music with no vid but I've noted that a vid gets more listens so have bowed to pragmatics.

I'm a sucker for a good video, I like this one! Song is good, vocals good, band good. Have to agree with the comment about the vocals hiding behind the guitars though.
Glad you liked it Cpt Moto. Thanks.

Thanks Alan, The video is a classic education film about the meaning of "mature love"...it's from the Prelinger Archives...I LOVE that place. Thanks for your kind words. All the best to you & Di...

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
