When I played a song and mute an instrument that I can still hear it faintly in the background. I have the "M" button clicked in the mixer as well as the volume slider set at 0. Is this a known issue or is there another way to completely mute? I'm using BIAB 2018 (520).

Another clue: it seems as though there is a phantom song playing in the background at the same time. Two basses, two pianos, etc.

Welcome to the forum.
I’ll take a guess. Is it possible you rendered your song to an audio track, and that is playing along at low volume? Try muting the audio track to test this.
Could you tell us more about your equipment? What audio driver, ASIO, WAS or MME? What do you use as your MIDI output?
Is your song MIDI, RealTracks, or a combination?

Hi Matt,
Thanks very much for the welcome and you're exactly correct - I had rendered it an audio file and didn't realize that BIAB kept track of that and played it in the background. That's a great feature and thanks very much for the help!

The audio track is indeed a feature. You could use it to record your piano track, for example, then go back and change the piano track to a vibraphone and have both in your song. In BIAB 2021, this is less needed, now that we have so many more tracks available.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
