Hi Janice, Bud & Peter,

well that made it clear: Bud, you better toe the line...

Seriously, that's another awesome tune - there's nothing but a good blues shuffle anyway, but this one stands out. Again..

Love the write a lot, love the arrangement a lot. And again I'm a sucker for your vocals, Janice - both lead and background vocals are absolutely top-notch.

And Peter, I always enjoy your playing, but these solo parts are outstanding, marvellous, I think..

And like always everything sounds brilliant, Bud, crystal-clear, yet with the drive the tune deserves. Great fun, great listen!!!

Take care, stay safe,

Stefan

Hi Janice and Bud,

Are you already walking next to your shoes after all these compliments you have received on this forum (and -of course- in the rest of the world)?
Well hold on, I also have some big compliments for your performance of this song.
This very swinging, humorous song put a smile on my face. And that's a huge achievement (no, that's a joke).
As allways the vocals are outstanding, but have I told you you sound a bit like John Lennon? ;-)

I enjoyed it all the way and beyond,
Hans

J&B&P...

It has gotten to point of being hard to say anything that hasn't already been said... so I'll simply repeat...

As Good As It Gets.

Y'all just keep getting better (if that is even possible).

Janice IS a STAR. Period.

Peter's guitar fits perfectly. Nice solo.

And Bud's Bass is a delight!

Stellar mix. Snappy snare!! Nice piano, too...

Superb.

Ditto. Ditto. Ditto...

This is fantastic. If I heard this in a record store I would buy it on the spot.

You three are fantastic together and pro all the way. Keep those songs coming.

Thanks! It was a fun project. Bud appreciated the mention of the bass fiddle.

Not being familiar with the original, I`d say this was written for Janice; a wonderful vocal.
Everything works- great edgy guitar breaks and the drum sound is felt as well as heard.
Fantastic revival work.

Robert

Thanks Robert! It's always fun to attempt a decent revival of a 100 year old tune. Glad you
felt we did it justice.

Now Janice is surely deserving of all the accolades that have come her way, but dammit man she was born to do this! Some very tasty guitar work from Peter and Bud’s bass lines put the swing in this thing. I’ve got a feeling the old Kay is going to be seeing a lot more action now that we have uncovered these major contributions from the new bass man on the block. Super mix. The clarity is exceptional with everything is where it should be. This is remarkable music that should be on everyone’s playlist. Well done, Tom

Nice work on that bouncy bass line! The Kay bass sounds a lot better than their cello!

I really enjoyed this - so much I went played several times! It feels like a funhouse ride each time! :

Thanks for the listens! Glad it all worked for you. Yeah those old Kay Swingmasters have a nice tone unlike many of their products - got mine 40 years ago. Did they really make a cello?

Appreciate it all.

Thanks all for the comments on the guitar part.
It was an inspired choice by Bud & Janice to resurrect this old blues.

Here is a link to the original:

Janice's vocal arrangement was brilliant and what can I say about Bud's bass that hasn't already been said!
A great 1,5 1,5 !:)

Nice to listen again after reading your production notes, especially interested in your drum treatment! Did you actually strip out all the snare hits from the realdrum track? Sounds great BTW.

Thanks Dave! See my email re drums. Glad you liked it.

I do appreciate that you take the time to find these old songs and redo them to give them a new life. Kinda like music historians and restorers.

Thanks Herb. We do love history and restorations so as you mentioned PD songs fit right in. Glad you liked the tune!

I love those lyrics... what a good find you did here and it is a nice interpretation of that song.

The lyrics are very much putting words on how I always thought the 20's were... wild life, lots of partying, experimenting, etc. Those years gave us dadaism, surrealism and many more interesting art forms.

I wonder if this century's 20's will be a kind of the same, because we have Cuvid-19 and they had The Spanish Flu in the beginning of the decade... and I think people have been isolated for so long now that we all are desperate to get out and party "wild" smile

Thanks for sharing,
Will

Thanks Will. Each year on Jan 1 as more songs enter the PD we search for possibilities. We were delighted to find this one and are glad you like it.

Your take on the Spanish Flu, COVID-19 and what art forms arose in the 20’s was very thought provoking. Thanks for mentioning it.

Suffice to say the queen of the showcase more than does justice to the uncrowned queen of the blues! (I'd not heard of Ida Cox so enjoyed checking her out, thanks.)

Thanks Leon. Your are very kind to say all of that. And, yes, there are a lot of hidden gems in the PD world...and the US adds another batch each Jan 1. We appreciate your support!
