The names given to exported (or drag/dropped) RealTracks are ridiculously LONG. And NOT what I want them to be called.
So...each time I export a RealTrack (or a bunch of RealTracks), I have to rename them. It would be nice not to have to do that.
An example: Using an SGU called "Doubt.SGU"... I drop a guitar track from BIAB to my work folder.... It gets named:
Doubt BBGuitar_Real 3362 Guitar, Electric, Soloist BritBluesRock70s Ev 110_SingleRender_DragDrop
Which contains: the SGU name (Doubt) the Slot Name (BBGuitar_Real) the RealTrack name (3362 Guitar, Electric, Soloist BritBluesRock70s Ev 110) how it was rendered (SingleRender_DragDrop).
I then change that to how I want it to read:
Doubt 3362 Guitar, Electric, Soloist BritBluesRock70s Ev 110
...because what I care about is the SGU it belongs to and the RealTrack it came from.
Why anyone would want those other 2 parts escapes me.
So...how about including a dialog box that would allow you to choose the parts that you WANT to make up the export file names???
AND...make the naming conventions the same regardless of how the files are exported. When I render all the RealTracks at the same time, they get named like this:
I agree it would be nice to have a checkbox list to enable or disable different default sections of both a single track render and all tracks render.
Also, it would be nice if there could be a custom checkbox. I envision the custom checkbox as having a editable, default label of "custom". The user can then edit the custom label as desired.
floyd. this is one reason i posted the following wish https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=626487#Post626487 ie an organised method. and drag/drop is replaced by a users naming convention. drag/drop drives mew nuts cos i have to rename all the time TO NAMES I WANT. the other prob is new users might not realise DD folder is GETTING BIG, possibly with unused files.
fyi i organise my songs under year master folders. and every song i do in a year is a sub folder within the year master folder. so lets say i do a song in july 2021 called "scuba baby !) then my master folder is SONGS2021, and within SONGS2021 all my biab and daw traks and notes ie EVERYTHING RELATED TO SCUBA BABY SONG is in a sub folder SCUBABABYJUL21. ie organised.
floyd, you do understand CURRENTLY in biab that you can solo a rt in the mixer for example then do a file save special to wav or mp3 etc and bypass the drag/drop naming convention ? and give the saved rt any old name. same if you right clik over the rt radio button. but this is wav only.
when i'm ruffing out a song idea which i know is not final often i'll save rt's to mp3 per above to save lots of disc space.
best. muso. pipeline is right. there are some amazeing features in reaps. imho reaps plus biab is the perfect music creation solution. floyd , go thru the extensive reaps vids sometime at reaper.fm. amazeing stuff. done by a grammy winner.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows® Today!
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
