Revamping an old song with a new arrangement, some new lyrics and and emphasis on simplicity. BiaB was the key. I used BiaB 2021 and these elements from BLUERIJ>STY Blue Ridge Mountain Country Folk 521 Bass, Electric Pop Syncopated Ev 36 3156 Fiddle, 5 string, Rhythm Americana Mountain 3185 Guitar, Acoustic Rhythm Mountain 1108 Guitar Acoustic Fingerpicking Thanks for listening...Dan https://soundclick.com/r/s8g7uq

Hi Dan. Something in your voice reminds me of Marty Robbins. It's a good voice and I think you should bring it up a couple of db in the mix.

Hi, Dan. Well done - your voice really carries this song. Nice write and production as well. Apropos to nothing, verse one got me thinking - on paper, "Lord" and "word" should be a stronger rhyme than they actually are.

Vic Vic...thanks man you make me want to put on my "white sports coat and pink carnation" (younger folks won't understand that) other than suggesting you get your hearing tested, thanks for the high compliment...Dan

Dan,
Great vocal on this—agree with Vic it could come forward just a bit. It’s too good to hide. I like the song; soft and easy on the ear, with a pretty melody. Like those back vox as well—they really add depth. Good stuff!
Best regards,
Deej

Best regards,
Deej Deej...thanks for the comments...I like to put the vocals into the mix and don't care for them too out front...I probably err the wrong way...I don't hear "Marty Robbins" when I sing I hear me and that scares me enough to try to hide my lead vocals...now given the genre of music I write that's counter productive because the message is more important than the song or the singer... so I know your council is sound...it's always been quite a quandary....thanks for he thoughts...Dan

I also got a Marty Robbins vibe and yes I remember "A White Sports Coat and a Pink Carnation".
You do have a good voice, don't a afraid of it and don't bury it in the mix. Nice harmonies on this very good song.
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.
64 bit Win 10 Pro, the latest BiaB/RB, Roland Octa-Capture audio interface, a ton of software/hardware

Hi Firesong,
You made a very nice song with this one! While listening to it, something sounded familiair and made me think of Harry Belafonte (in a way). Also your use of the background vocals is very good. I liked it!

Yeah, Dan! Great use of BiaB. It's perfect for reworking songs. [I found an old file yesterday of a song called Blue Prince, and there were 15 different versions]. Man, so glad you brought this one out of the "old song" category. It may be a simple arrangement, but it's simply brilliant.

Is it too much to say I love BiaB?...or just that I really like it...I bet I have at least 50 songs that I've either written or redone because of BiaB...the perfect tool for the writer/ composer that doe not have a band at their disposal...Dan

To steal a Greg Allman phrase, "Everything's hittin' the note!"
We enjoyed the write, the band, the mix and the vocal.
We remember a LOT more about Marty than just "A White Sports Coat..." And yeah there is a bit of his timbre in your vocal but ultimately it's yours and a good one.
Nice!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
