This is wonderful..cool song, excellent narrative, good band and performance from you two. There is something in the vocal that is a little strident that may be dealt with via simple EQ OR it could be my head, (I have a post migraine hangover). Of course the lap steel is a wonderful lift and expresses the pain well.

Lyrically--nice work on the changing expressions. It really sings well and Leon sings it well. The band is rock solid and holds that growing groove. The ending reaches for the stars, almost literally. Very haunting. Very much enjoyed this.

Well done. A very complex structured tune with a very simple, clear message. Great production. The vocals are so clear. Good job. I can't tell the difference between your playing and the band, which is just how you want it, I would think. Thanks a lot. Peter

Hi Peter,
Good lyrics, though not much hope left...
"Every obligation To work towards the greater good Is banished to the dark side of the moon"
Unless it's packed in these lines "Every generation Has a chance to turn the tide A bonfire grows from just a little spark"
But I liked it much. The melody is very nice and fits very good with the words. At this moment 'every generation...' is playing in my head. You achieved that!
Hans

Excellent tune Peter and Leon. Loved the way the tune started and the energy built towards the end. Lapsteel - nice touch. Boy are they fun to play. Can really get crazy. Super solo at the end.
Boy when Leon sang "Dark Side of the Moon" focused me on the lyrics.. Thanks Scott haven't picked up the lap steel in a long while but they are indeed fun to play. Peter

Gloomy lyrics about the world, with many sad truth, but I really like the optimism in the end: "A bonfire grows from just a little spark Please count me in"
Nice band, I enjoyed the fretless bass. The songwriter guitars swing nicely along the pleasant melody. The harmonica is nicely introduced and then complements the outro. The raspy lap steel solo describes the feeling of trying to brake, well played.

G'day Peter & Leon Loved this song . The excellent sparse backing is a perfect bed for the well sung intelligent reflective lyrics. It reminded me of a Paul Kelly production (a very good thing). Would have liked the song to finish at 3.33 but that's just me. Lovely song , well done. cheers Gary.

Good write, well performed. Nice harmony. Enjoyed the listen. It's got a "classic" folk sound. Drum and slide at the end is very cool! Nit: When the bass comes in, it initially sounds to me like it's playing a different song - just like you're lyric alludes to. Maybe it's just me. Thanks David. Peter

Peter & Leon ...
What a cool song! Has a true retro feel ... yet would fit right in with a lot of the current playlists. This is really knicely constructed music. Lyric, live performance, RTs, melody and arrangement - all spot on. The lyric leaves a little to contemplate. Thanks for a sweet listen! Take care, gentlemen ...
Alan Appreciate those comments Alan. Peter

Excellent use of RTs. Super vocal and mix. The lyrics took it over the top for me. So true. A vicious circle! Excellent build up at the end.
IMHO Leon and Peter did and excellent job on this song.
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Peter & Leon, A fine write touching on all the relevant bases in clear eyed and nicely singeable verse doses with the release of the chorus simplicity keeping the song from sounding as eve-of-destruction as it could have. Ending optimism was necessary and welcome! Leon`s vocals are well captured and the mix about flawless... lapsteel a cool way to close out. Excellent work!

We love the lyric. It can be viewed from so many different angles and still say so much. You both sang it really well...great harmony. The touch of harp here and there was nice. That RT is in our opinion the best in the harp catalog. Great tone. The acoustic guitars were excellent both in what they did and the tone. The overall build was very effective and we perceived a build in the intensity of the vocal also. I (Bud) want to play a fretless electric bass when I grow up And the outro...wow...outstanding. We have been lap steel fans since the early Jackson Browne days. Excellent! J&B Bud & Janice Thanks appreciate the review and comments. I've always liked David, Lindley's playing on the lap steel. Saw him when they toured in 1976. Great stuff. Loved the fretless bass especially after hearing Jaco play on Joni Mitchells Hejira album. Peter

Peter and Leon,
A very nice folk styled song! Leon's vocal fits this perfectly. The fretless bass gives the song a very good flavor. The rock ending by lap steel is wonderful. Enjoyed my listen a lot.
Best regards.
