Nighty-Night Lullaby

We had new neighbors move in a short distance down the road from us. We dropped by their house and introduced ourselves and welcomed them to the neighborhood. We learned they had an 8-month-old little girl who loved to go to sleep with soft music. So, I put this together and took a copy to them for their little daughter - to assist her in her journey to Slumberland.

The verses are a very simple progression, but the chorus, although it sounds smooth, has a rather complicated chord progression. But BIAB handled the quick chord changes very smoothly and, I think, it came out pretty nice.

There's not much backstory to the song's inception - just some pretty tracks I threw together for a gentle style and after several regenerations, this is where it ended up. Hope you like it!

My favorite part is the vocal oohs on the choruses. They blended so nicely with the music. About 6 or 8 hours of work here, if that much.

Very soothing - not sure it would send me to sleep - those intriguing chord changes seem to want my constant attention!

My music may not set the world on fire but if it causes a glow in just one person's heart, it has all been worthwhile smile

Hi Brian ...

I'm delighted you found the chord changes "intriguing"! But I doubt the Baby has yet learned to appreciated complicated chord progressions. smile. Thus I don't think it will keep her awake! Thanks for the listen and nice words. Best to you ./..

Given the age at which some prodigies are playing there might be
a possibility that child was pondering those chords in dreams ...
just a reflection from my old days in the psychology field smile

The tune is lovely. We are simple chord folks but from our totality
listening perspective we hear a wonderful structure and are again
amazed at how melodic your BiaB arrangements are.

Great!

SHHHHHH, I'm sleeping.

I think you hit the mark.

You've got a real talent for creating a mood and painting pictures with you music.

Very pretty song Alan. Very cool story. I am sure the youngster is sleeping peacefully while this is playing in the background.

Lovely composition, Alan. As well as a lullaby, would also serve nicely as a piece of film music, given the right scene.

For once, I'm genuinely lost for words. This may be but just over three minutes long, but (for me) it's right up there with the timeless lullabies. Honestly. Those chord progressions are SO subtly interwoven ... I thought I was handy at chord progressions, but these are so simple and yet so well written and blended together ... one goes from one chord to another wondering "how's he done that?", but the wonder doesn't jar enough to wake one from the superb hypnotic effect ...

You are a master of music and no mistake, sir. What a beautiful track. Thank you.

Alan,
good one! I am no little girl, but it sure relaxed tight spots in my brain. Exelent composition and mix. Thank you for sharing.
Misha.

P.S. what surprises me is with so many "musical" baby toys, there are very few that actually have good music. It is either classics that done horribly, or some insanity that sounds like a bad sound track from Atari video game from mid 80s. It would be pretty cool if they had crib toys with actual music tunes, such as this one for example.

Well thought out Alan. It is a complicated progression but it resolves nicely and that's where the relaxation and sleep is assisted.

Pleasant listen, although - like others - I started paying attention to the chord changes instead of falling asleep. wink

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Gentle and lilting like a lullaby should be.

Quite nice, and now I am going to tuck myself in for the night.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
