If you are looking for a very good Yamaha C5 piano, Stage Mark I73, Logical EP 200, Vibraphone, and Clavinet C6 then check out the free Lost in the 70's DL:

https://lostin70s.com/plugins/KeysOfThe70s

I comes in 32 and 64 bit, VSTi, and stand-alone versions. Be sure to DL the samples at the top of the DL listings. Simply place the samples where directed and use the VSTi and/or stand-a-lone. I will find this freebe very useful.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Tried. Can't make sense of them. It opens as rks and not dll, so I don't know what to do with it. Real Band didn't like a rks extension.

I am using the new 1040XTRAEZ form this year. It has just 2 lines.

The rks files are the samples. You also have to DL the VST and/or the stand-a-lone exe file. Be warned that the 64 bit VST is a VST3 file, I don't know about the 32 bit as I didn't DL it.

You need to download 2 or 3 files:

1) the full sample bank file
2) the 64-bit or 32-bit VST file (depending on which version of RB you're running)
3) optionally, the .EXE file to run it standalone

https://lostin70s.com/download

1) RKsamples_big.zip
2) KeysOfThe70s_2.0.3_win_64_vst3.zip (for 64-bit)
3) KeysOfThe70s_2.0.3_win_64_exe.zip (for 64-bit)

Unzip the samples file (the folder is named RKsamples). Move the folder with all of its contents either to the default location (C:/Users/Public/Documents) or to a location of your choice (I moved it to the root of my Thunderbolt 3 samples drive). Unzip the VST3 file and move the .VST3 file to C:/Program Files/Common Files/VST3. Open RB and rescan your plugins. If RB doesn't support VST3, then you're out of luck. I don't see a .DLL VST2 file available.

Unzip the EXE ZIP file and move the .EXE file to a folder of your choice in the proper Program Files folder (64- or 32-bit) and run it. If you located the samples somewhere other than the default location, just click in the folder path box and change it to the location you installed them at. Be sure to set the audio/MIDI options.

Works great.

Whether I find it useful or not is TBD.

I just kind of don't understand. All my experience is that the files that load into a DAW is a dll file. I don't see any of those. It's okay. I am only interested in the Rhodes anyway.

Steinberg is no longer providing the VST2 libraries to new devs. Going forward, you'll see more and more VST3-only releases.

EDIT: I just noticed that 3 of the 5 libraries are mono; 2 are stereo.

Okay so let's get to the bottom line. Does anybody have a GOOD Rhodes source that I can get for free? I don't make music that makes money where I would be willing to spend money on a Rhodes dll file. The ones I have found are fairly lame.

In the other thread you posted a picture of LOTS of available hardware synths. You don't have a good Rhodes sound on any of those?
I thought the Nord had pretty good Rhodes sounds (?)

Addictive Keys has a decent Mark One that you can get for free in some instances, but what Rhodes sounds are you looking for?
Mr Ray 73 was another 'freebie' that had pretty good reviews.
On the interwebs, a 'Rhodes' reference can be pretty vague. They were used for lots of different sounds ..

MOTU has Electik Keys for free .. if I recall you have a MOTU
https://motu.com/download
/can't vouch for it, as I do not have it currently

Make your sound your own!

Mainly the suitcase 73. The one Ensoniq board has a fair one. The Nord has some decent Whirly sounds but the Rhodes sounds are only so so. Nord's big thing is the Hammond and the very authentic Leslie. I mainly use about a dozen of the 128 sounds. Some are strange, some I need to think about applications.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
