Hi Friends. There is so much new music here to dive into and enjoy. I got back on the piano for Jailhouse Boogie Woogie Lyrics I took some stuff and forgot to give it back I took some stuff and forgot to give it back the magistrate said man you can't do that The judge he asked me where did I go wrong The judge he asked me where did I go wrong the law and me aint never got along So he sent me to the penitentiary he sent me to the penitentiary 300 days until we set you free. I did my time and now I'm on my way I did my time and now I'm on my way that prison ain't no place I wanna stay The sheriff said I'm glad to see you gone The sheriff said I'm glad to see you gone Get out of here go back where you came from. Well I got smart I had an evil plan if I Rob your bank I'm sure you'll understand Damn you sheriff , catch me if you can A little history if interested : Waaayy back in the day I was made to take piano lessons which I detested. My grandmother could see that I hated both the piano and lessons so she started playing these wierd sounding 78 records on her wind up gramophone by people called Meade Lux Lewis , Albert Ammons , Pete Johnson and Clarence Smith. For the sake of brevity I won't go on but suffice to say , I was hooked and saw the piano in a new light . I continue to love boogie woogie to this day and soak up everything by Johan Blohm , Silvan Zingg , Jorg Hegemann & Caroline Dahl et-al. . The Band 962 guitar electric, rhythm country boogie clean 1848 bass , electric country boogie (is ok but this type of music really needs a live bass player) real drums , Nashville Shuffle Me - Piano and tortured vocals. tempo 170 key C

I really liked it. I think you nailed the feeling of a classic boogie woogie song.

Halla Alaxander. Tack for being the first to comment. What is it about your beautiful country that produces such outstanding musicians . Apart from the aforementioned Silvan Zingg and Johan Blohm we have the late great Charlie Norman ,the very tragic Ted Gardestad , Ulf Sandstrom , Axel Zwingenberger (part swedish) and the fantastic Robert Wells , who actually influenced me to do "Jailhouse BW" Tack & Vanliga Halsningar Gary.

Boogie-woogie blues! Nice playing and singing! Band sounds good as well. I can marginally play piano, and my fingers start balking at tempos over 120 bpm. So color me impressed! Fun listen, especially the silly asides. You did your grandmother proud!

Thank you David for listening and your nice comments. David wrote <"I can marginally play piano, and my fingers start balking at tempos over 120 bpm"> You should persevere David ; I actually think it is easier to play fast rather than slow . Not as much air to fill. David wrote <" You did your grandmother proud!"> That's lovely David , thank you. My hipster granny has long been pushing the clouds around but she did leave me with an appreciation of fine music ; such as found on this forum cheers Gary.

Ah, the first music of my morning. What a great way to wake up. WOW, I'm up now. Outstanding piano, Gary, and your vocal is perfect right up to and including "Keep out of trouble." You made us love your grandmother.

Yowzers! That is great.
We've loved boogie for decades - from Pinetop in the 20's to the Andrew Sisters to Asleep At The Wheel and more. And it is most cool to hear the genre on this forum. And it's a 12 bar!
The write and the vocal/piano performances nailed the genre.
Would love to hear about the keys -- what was the set up?
One word: FUN!
J&B
PS As Janice was dancing around she mentioned Marcia Ball also. And also, as you mentioned Caroline Dahl. We used to watch her with the Metropolitan Blues All Star Band on a Kentucky PBS channel.

My 1st boogie woogie love was Fats Domino - still is really. Fun stuff, cooooool playing and the singing is far from tortured. Cool ending too.
Cheers rayc "What's so funny about peace, love & understanding?" - N.Lowe

Jerry Lee is alive and well! Or is it Gary Lee?
I love boogie woogie and you nailed it on this one! Outstanding piano work coupled with a strong vocal and the perfect backing band. You had me hooked by the third note.
If I heard this is a record store I would have bought it on the spot.
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
