Things You Didn`t Say Originally posted as a solo effort a few years back, I`m very pleased Ray and Scott were willing to make it a Spirit Level song. In addition to bass, Ray recorded 4 guitar tracks ( I think there are 3 included here) and mixed. Scott, of course, is on lead guitar and also mastered. The lyrics? Brothers, enough said. Style is _FIREFLY.STY (Mending Brit Psych Rock March) RealTracks in song: 1755:Mandolin, Rhythm Pop8ths Ev 110 RealDrums [in Song:RockHardLA^5-a:Snare, Loose HiHat , b:Snare, Open HiHat Scott : lead guitar Ray: Bass, rhythm guitars Things You Didn`t Say you`re a dark horse on a good day a black sheep on the rest late to learn getting late to learn I watched you from the barricades ride back into the flames felt you burn I felt you burn I was painting the rainbow when you shot the waterfall saw you turn I saw you turn you became a poem the blazing ember of a day I became the poet of things you didn`t say my heart was racing reading Dharma Bums heard you cry I heard you cry from your lockup in Tangier flying too close to the sun my falling sky in my falling sky you became the moon your shadow falls far away that`s how I found the box of things you didn`t say you became a poem the blazing ember of a day I became the poet of things you didn`t say brother brother did I get it right in my way Robert Cordrey, April 2016

WOW! I really liked this. Everything is spot on! Great Vocal! The lyrics could have been written by Jim Morrison! They are really good lyrics! When real musicians get together this is the result, an outstanding song.
Great work!
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Hi Team , here are some things that I am happy to say: The lyrics are intriguing (in a good way) and are well matched by the almost "story telling" delivery of the vocals . It is evident that some thought has gone into the stereo placement of the instruments which makes for a far more interesting listen.Nice. I like the Hurdy Gurdy Man treatment given to the 3rd line of each verse which had the effect of drawing me into the song to discover why it was applied. This song raised my spirits to a higher level. Well done chappies. cheers Gary

Spirit Level delivers again.
Y'all have a great band sound built on each of your strengths. Ray's bass and guitars. Scott's leads and fills. Robert's lyrics and haunting vocal.
Good Psych Rock!
At times, I got a Tull vibe. That's a COOL thing!

Hi Robert, Ray en Scott,
Robert, this is something different I heard from you. And with the craftsmanship from Ray en Scott you made it a very interesting and intriguing song. Good rhythm, nice tension and -of course- wonderful lyrics. Ingredients I like. And here it comes together in this good cool song. So from now on, you only make music together, don't you. It will please me very much. But... (there is always a 'but'), the end of this song came unexpectedly and a bit abrupt, or abruptly (as Google translate says). I rather would have had some kind of 'explosion' or at least an ending with a Bang.
But whatever, I like it, Hans

Hi Robertkc,
Very nice composition. Your voice is superb with well written lyrics as usual. It is well done. Excellent guitar solo, sober but well in its place. I appreciated.

Hey guys ...
Mario was first to comment and he summed it up so perfectly. Everyone excelled in their parts. And Robert, your lyrics are always some of the best. But the whole product is exceptional. The lead guitar is exceptional and the bass really moves the progress of the song. A truly great listen. Wishing all of you the very best.

Hi guys Intriguing lyrics as per usual, with a great opening; 'you're a dark horse on a good day, a black sheep on the rest'. Well sung and well played, guys. Another fine Spirit Level track. Regards, Leon

Robert, Scott, Ray, Simply amazing! Probably I will not be a right person to say something critically meaningful, because I like it on personal level...Spirit Level, excellent teamwork! Not sure how much pain or joy this brought, but listens very well. Like it very much. Thank you for sharing. Misha.

You guys have really developed a distinctive "band" sound that I really like, Ray sounds great as does Scott.
Scott's playing in the intro reminded me of Hank Marvin somewhat, sounded like it could have been an intro to a Shadows tune.
Excellent lyric and vocal, Robert.
Good song, enjoyed.

SL, good vocal and lyrics that stay in the vein of psychedelic rock. The guitars and bass are excellent. Great job by all, Tom

Hi, Robert. Now I know Dharma Bum is a novel by Jack Kerouac, and not the backside of a Buddhist monk. Not at all what I was expecting, but I should have, as it's very much got your stamp of personal style. Yes, I know it's a group effort. It reminded my of a band my son was in - if people "got" what they were playing, good for them. But they were out to make music for themselves first and foremost. That's a good thing. And while not normally what I'd listen to, certainly worth the listen! Good write. I enjoyed the song, despite it making me get out of my comfort zone and not being able to listen on "auto pilot", so to speak.

Thanks to all listeners and commenters: with only the drums from Biab this was a satisfying "band" song to be part of( for an old wannabe who never was in one). Also probably the most personal rock song I`ve written, so the positive comments on the lyrics are especially appreciated.
Robert

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
