Lonely Nights

This one started out with a guitar theme I came up with over a set of chord changes. I then added a chorus, and Chris came up with the melody.

Marty then wrote the first two verses and the chorus, and Chris wrote the last verse. I thought the solo needed to change the mood of the song, so instead of doing a solo over a verse or chorus I wrote a bridge part for it.

Chris and Marty do a duet on the vocals, first time we have ever done that before, and I think they sound great together wink

The Band:

RealTracks in song: 893:Piano, Acoustic, Solo-Accompaniment PopLiverpool Ev 065 (B-energetic)
RealTracks in song: 3334:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm BluesPopSlow16thsSol ev16 065
RealTracks in song: 1599:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm Pop16thsA-B Ev16 065

Chris Spruit: Vocal, BGV, melody
Marty Straub: Bass, Vocal, Vocal Arrangement
Dave Bell: Guitar, music production, mix and master

I used EZDrummer2 to build the drum track.

Mixed in Reaper, mastered with Ozone 9, plugins from Waves and iZotope.

Lonely Nights (2021, Marty Straub and Christiane Spruit)

Lost in my mind
knowing how far we've come
Nowhere to hide and all
all the crazy things I am thinking of.
Do you feel this way?
Lonely inside?

You're the one, who
can pick me up
from this mood
Where are you?
Thinking of the same things, too?
You should be by my side
through this lonely night

Lonely Nights and I'm thinking of you
can you feel this, like I do
Are you lonely, on this lonely night
feel as lonely, as I do.

(Guitar Theme )

I Can't turn the page
I know we are worlds apart
words don't come easy,
when you know you have to weigh each one
Did we say so much
I'm begging you, pick me up

SOLO

Chorus

Dave, Chris, Marty...

Great opening. That guitar is TALKIN'!!!!

Then WHOA! What a GREAT duet sound!! A terrific blend. Soulful - from both of you.
Stellar vocals.

Awesome track. Marty's bass is (again) perfect. Dave's guitar is killer.
Drums sound great. Excellent mix.

An excellent Rock Ballad write.

Loved this. One of your top 5, I'd say (it's a crowded field).

BlueAttitude hits another six! The intro just crackles and smokes and the duet vocal is beautifully timed and balanced (one of the best duets heard here).
The composition has many of the signatures of the band in feel, tempo and structure - its interesting to note how collaborations evolve -Marty contributing so much more than bass and fueling new creations.
Excellent work y`all!

Dave, what an outstanding intro, love that guitar!

Chris and Marty did a fantastic job on the vocals. Of course Marty's bass was spot on. The mix was also outstanding.
The lyrics were also great. Fantastic ending!

I liked everything about this one.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Hi, Dave.

As others said, strong start with with a blazing guitar solo.

I haven't heard this sort of dramatic duet on this forum for a while, and it sounds great. smile

Awesome vocals, and guitar. Bass and drum in the pocket.

Fun listen! laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

That lead guitar playing is amazing. Tastefull economic use of notes really allows the music to breathe . Everything is working perfectly here and the chemistry of 3 fine musicians is an aural delight . Would love to hear Christiane really cut loose with a spirited , wild vocal (a-la Beth Hart) , but perhaps that is a selfish request.
Loved this , well done.
cheers
Gary.

I love all the songs I have done with Chris and now Marty as part of the Blue Attitude project, must be close to 50 by now, but some of them have that "special something" as I like to call it. And this is one of those songs I think smile

Thanks, floyd!

I like this song on so many levels, right from its inception, through its creation and down to its production, and its always been that opening guitar that grabs me. All of the emotion of the song is in Dave's fingers, taste and tone. Man, these guys are so much fun to work with. Chris can do no wrong. She opens her mind and great ideas come rushing out; she opens her mouth and sings so sweetly birds stop to listen.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Marty fit in with Chris and myself perfectly right from day one, just the right personality. I guess it's been a year now since he has been involved, and yes, he contributes much more than just bass tracks wink

Thanks for the support, Robert, it is appreciated and never taken for granted.

Wow Dave very cool intro. Love the bite in the guitar tone. Awesome duet from Marty and Chris. The piano was excellent loved the rocking chords back and forth. Gave the song a really cool feel. Guitar solo took the song to a very cool place. Well done

Now that is a stadium filling sound!

The strong duet and very tasteful solos make for a most memorable rock ballad.

Not unexpectedly Marty nailed it all down with the excellent bass track.

One word: Anthemic!

Enjoyed the listens...

J&B

PS Great mix and I like the ReverbNation sound better...it made the SC version sound a bit compressed.

Yes, Marty and Chris blend nicely. The unison was good, especially considering the lyric. Band is solid, and Dave's tone and licks fit the bill. I don't know how this thing could get more "minor", but it still didn't come across as hopelessly "sad". I hope that's a "good" thing. It's cool to watch Blue Attitude the band try out different patterns of writing and performance. Love to all of you.

Well done everyone. The vocalists work well together. They tell a good story. The lead guitar is bad a**. Superb. The recording is well mixed and clear. Hat is off to everyone involved.

A power blues ballad...but without the histrionics.
I appreciate the restraint because it allowed the song to shine.

Cheers
