When I import just a single MIDI file (melody line) (the backing tracks have already been created). I go to melody/edit melody track/import melody from midi file/ I then locate the file I want to import; in the window that pops up: source track two is selected, channel one is checked; all others are greyed out. I change "destination track" to melody. "Number of blank bars to insert at beginning" is set to 2; "Number of bars to offset from start of midi file" is set to 0; "How many bars to import" is set to at 1,000; "Number of blank bars to insert at beginning" is set to 0; "Include notes played before the bar by this # of ticks" is set to 15. I click ok. Back at the display screen my backing chords are still visible when I first created them before importing the melody. When I go to play the file now with the imported midi melody track - I get the backing instruments playing but no melody. The melody can be seen to have been successfully imported by clicking on the Notation window and the Lead Sheet window. What's going on? How do I fix this?
The same here, no sound for the midi track, after importing a midi file to the melody track. I can see the notes at the piano roll window but no sound at all. I've selected the midi instrument patch correctly.
Sometimes I can't change the volume for this melody track, cause sometimes it works, with another MGX file.
I'm using the latest update 827. After this update I got these issues.
I resolved like this: Click on the Plugins tab, left click on the melody track plugin [Default Synth] CoyoteWT > Re-route to Midi Channel > Force Midi Channel = 4.
I assume you're using BIAB for windows, 2021, and the latest update. Check a couple of "gotchas": - check the mixer to make sure the volume is turned up on the Melody track - open the Piano Roll window for the Melody track and check the Velocity values at the bottom of the window
Otherwise, if you want to post the BIAB file here, someone can likely help. Good luck! LLOYD S
I resolved like this: Click on the Plugins tab, left click on the melody track plugin [Default Synth] CoyoteWT > Re-route to Midi Channel > Force Midi Channel = 4.
Don't get me going again. The BIAB Melody track is default to channel #4 since the beginning of time and should never need to be redirected to channel #4. However, in the past months I have repeatedly reported that I see these channel numbers switching around and causing these types of issues.
The below may or may not apply to the above problem. I'm just mentioning it as "useful information".
It is also worth keeping in mind is that when a Realtrack has been added to the Melody track, this takes precedence over MIDI melody and so the melody will not "stick".
So if a style uses the Melody track for an instrument, I suggest importing the MIDI melody to a Utility track.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
