Wondering if there is an published release date for the 2021 MAC product yet.

Thanks,

Anxiously waiting for it myself. However, PG Music hasn't typically announced a release date, it usually just sort of happens. Always a welcome day when I see the latest release for Mac announced.

Generally speaking Band-in-a-Box for Mac is released around springtime, but we have not been given a release date yet.

I was saying in beta maybe it's more apple OS changes causing the delay.
The 2019 was that when apple banned 32 bit apps and forced to 64 bit changes that caused that massive delay ? I think the BBPlugin would be all done as the Win version still uses the 2020 code for bbw4_64.app as it don't need Utility Tracks and the the actual VST code moves over easy, pity that could not be released early or at the same time as Win with the new RT/RD at least Mac users will have all the new tracks in the BBMacPlugin.

As far as I know, that is correct. The issues caused by Big Sur definitely caused some unforeseen extra work for the development team. I don't think it will cause such a massive delay as with the move from 32 to 64 though, as the Big Sur issues seemed to be ironed out fairly quickly, at least compared to some other audio software companies who are still struggling with Big Sur.

I have an older 2013 Macbook Pro (quad i7 16GB ram ssd drive).
Currently running Catalina 10.15.7

In past years (up to 2019 guessing) I've run BIAB win on Parallels on this machine with acceptible performance.
Performance defined primarily as time required to re-gen real track parts.

I'm expecting similar (or better) performance with the truly Mac version of BIAB 2021 on this marchine.

Would this be a reasonable expectation?

Thanks.

I have a PC and a Mac on my desk here. Specs:

PC:
Lenovo ThinkCentre M-Series
Intel Core i7-3770
16gb Ram
240gb SSD (running BB from external USB drive)
Windows 10

Mac:
iMac Late 2015, 21.5"
Intel Core i5-5575R
8gb Ram
1tb hard drive (running BB from external USB)
Mac OS Big Sur, plus Catalina and Mojave on separate partitions

Using the BB plugin to generate the same song on both, the iMac generates in 9.6 seconds while the PC generates in 12.4 seconds. Despite the PC having a somewhat faster CPU it is slightly older, so this performance difference should be considered roughly normal.

Bad luck on grace period. I'd prefer not to throw the dice and get a free update voucheur instead or waiting.

PG Music seems to be struggling with 2021 for Mac though.

Around springtime I guess it means not past winter or current springtime, so something between summer and may be even autumn, just too close to BiaB 2022 release for Windows in November 2021?

I'm not buying now expecting ramdom coincidence in grace period as the other guy is already out of luck.

Spring here in Canada happens between 20th of March and the 19th of June. From our release history over the last 12 years that I have data for, BIAB for Mac has released during this time or earlier, with only one exception.

First, I'm delighted that the '21 Mac version is finally here...but I lol'd at the timing, because I'm leaving town for a vacation next week and will have to wait a while longer to order it. Ah well, first world problems..

Hope you have a fun and relaxing vacation, Roger! Please note that the special for the Mac 2021 version is on until June 31st, so you'll want to place your order at least before then to take advantage of our sale prices.

Wonderful timing. I now have two weeks to my birthday to convince myself to buy as a gift to me from me. Oh I lied, two seconds was enough time to decide. Right wheres the debit card.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
