Sometimes you want something, and you find it, and it's at a price you don't mind, so....

Semour Duncan pickups. Soon to have a white pickguard. My first electric guitar was a Jazzmaster, so it's fitting my last should be too!

Only played it for about 15 minutes Charlie but it plays nice too. Neck was loose but 7 small turns later it is nice and straight again. Surfing right now for the best deal on the white pickguard. It was quite a phone call to Fender a few months back asking of they would make me a white on white, but that'd be a whole separate post.

Clearly, Eddie meant to say his 'latest' guitar. An easy mistake to make. Call it a typo. grin

Bob and Trevor,

Sadly, you are probably right. Every time I think "That's it. I have the whole sonic range covered." I see some shiny little trinket on a corner shelf and it ends up following me home like a stray puppy. This one actually was on Facebook Marketplace and it was like 10 minutes from home. My friend sent me the link, and I already told him that the next time I see him I am going to punch him in the face for showing it to me!!

Haven't quite figured out yet how I can blame him for my continuing to go to the little neighborhood stores and browsing...

To prove to him that there are no hard feelings about his recommendation, just go out and buy another guitar! See how easy it is? Your friend will be relieved to learn that it wasn't his fault after all. grin

Trevor, I should go out and buy HIM one. He has 8 guitars and 4 amps, and can only play the 3 chord intro to "Smoke On The Water".

Well Eddie...I know you need at least one more guitar and I need to get rid of at leas one...lol

The one in the photo is a Tom Anderson. The good news is that every year they seem to be worth more money than the year before.

I had a green Drop Top that was the best guitar I every had in my hand. It was stolen off the stage in Dallas Texas. I have bought three more trying to replace it. They are really good guitars but none as good as the green one. I like all three but the one in the photo is the one I play 99% of the time.

The one that was stolen had one of the last Kahler bridges that Tom installed. I have actually never seen another one like it for any price.

Tom Anderson guitars were never cheap but not as costly as many other really high quality guitars. Someone in Japan has been buying a lot of the older ones and selling them for double to original cost on ebay.

Every now and then something exceptional turns up. The stratocaster in my photo I found after years of buying and selling strats that I did not really like. I installed Rio Grande pickups and a second cap but other than that it is a stock guitar from the factory in Mexico. It plays and sounds as good as it gets.

I am not sure what the future will be. My hands are beginning to tremble from exposure to agent orange. Of the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most...lol

Sometimes super good guitars turn up for cheap. Keep looking Eddie, you just never know.

Billy

What the green one looked like...sort of...

All this conversation got me to thinking about what makes guitars sound and play the way they do.

I think one of the underlying reasons we buy so many guitars is because we don't really understand what we want!! We keep searching for that certain sound and feel mainly driven by advertising and the myths we assume are true. We often buy guitars based on what people we like are playing.

The general knowledge of guitar players is even worse when it comes to tube amps. That is a whole nother subject!

Here is something every guitar player needs to read.

Also Billy, with guitars it's horses for courses. Smooth for this song, like the Jazzmaster, biting for the next song, like the Telecaster. The Harley Benton acoustic sounds really good to me.

The cattle are the ranch’s bread and butter. The horses are the cream.

You never know what day you may catch me on a horse with a Colt Python shooting rattlesnakes...lol

The guitar and the shirt in the photo may be honky tonk urban cowboy stage ware but the hat is the read deal. Smells like diesel fuel and cow sxxx. Modern real cowboys would know exactly what I am talking about.

Nothing better than a good quarter horse and a guitar you like.

Billy

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
