Dance Song For People Who Don't Dance

New song & vid. We used Acoustica Mixcraft for the mixing and Corel Video Studio for the video production

******* LYRICS ****** Song info below lyrics

Dance Song For People Who Don't Dance

This is a dance song for people who don’t dance
All you do is get up on your feet and take a chance
You can do it in a group, a pair or on your own
It's the simplest dance song that this world has ever known
You don’t have to do the moonwalk none of that flash stuff
Getting on your feet and shuffling round is good enough
Dance like no-one's watching, cos no-one ever does
Seeing people moving & smiling’s what we love

This is for the folks out there who usually don't dance
The ones who'd rather take a seat instead of take a chance
They stand back in the shadows and watch others while they shine
But this dance song is different because it's yours and mine
I know I've got two left feet but wanna try it out
Before you know it I'm getting down to "Twist 'n' Shout"

Remember it’s a dance song for people who can’t dance
They do it down in London, and in Paris France
Their Parisian feet move to the beat and then it’s “oo-la-la”
Soon they’re dancing rhumbas and then the cha-cha-cha
Though they're from big citie s it don't mean they know what's right
You just let your hair down and dance with all your might
D it on your own, in a group or in a pair
Shake your tail feathers like you just don’t care

Good use of BIAB, Tracks work nicely for the song. Good vocals. Well mixed.

The video is really well done. I was surprised how well the dancers matched the music - did you match that up in the video software?

Welcome to the Showcase. (a forum member since '03 - wow!)

Thanks for the kind comments Floyd. Yes, a member since '03 and never posted a song on here! The dancers matching the music was down to a lot of luck (and a little effort from me).

I have lots more and I intend posting more.

I've just listened to some of your music and really appreciate your comments, as your stuff is GREAT!

Hi Killer,

Song - Good Old Rock N Roll - I like it. Lots of light and shade.

Vocals - A little unclear because of the vocal harmony effects (or similar) used. I would like to hear the lead vocalist and the BV's or vocal effects just used in places e.g. the last two lines of each verse or maybe on specific rhyming words.

Sax - up a little in the breaks.

Left Side Instrument - how about using a Piano instead of the Guitar? There's plenty in BIAB that would fit really well.

I would like to hear a remix,

Best Regards
Nigel

Hi Killer
As I watched this I realized that the fun MP4 had a cool MP3 accompaniment so I gave it another spin and yep, ...... a cool MP3 accompaniment! Reminded me of Kiss by Prince. I like the multi tracked vocals and the stereo placements of the instruments . Good fun , clever lyrics and as a non dancer with two left feet you had me hooked from the start. Great stuff , keep 'em coming.
cheers
Gary.

Great song-based arrangement of the band. It's hard to find "dancing" that actually matches the tempo, so well done in making this an enjoyable "watch" as well as song. I have to say, though, that the guy in white dancing alongside the woman was copying my moves. Great fun and much enjoyed.

Welcome old timer, new poster. You should post more as this is really good. Super RT backing tracks and a good vocal. The video was good also.

This is a winner as is in my book.

I'm with Nigel on the comments. Yep... cool tune but needs a "mix fix".

Hi Nigel

thanks for the suggestions. I really appreciate you taking the time to listen and analyse the song. I'll try what you've said. I was aware of the two guitar parts getting in each other's way but, Duh?!, didn't think of using a different instrument. I'm aware I have an issue with vocals in that 1) I'm unconfident as a singer; 2) I'm using a cheap mic; 3) I'm recording the vocals in a spare room and with the best will in the world I can't help but feel self-conscious, which then, naturally, affects my performance ;o); 4) I'm never quite sure how far to push them forward into the mix. Further forward is my answer for this one then! And I'll raise the sax volume in the breaks too.

But for now . . . I have many more I need to start on.

Thanks again.

Thanks Gary, high praise indeed! Love your tagline, "If my music sucks, good. If you tell my WHY,....even gooder." I reckon that's why we're on here, right? You in the UK?

Well, since other people did the heavy lifting analyzing the mix, that means I can do the easy part and say how much I enjoyed the song and video.

Fun song, clever lyrics, nice match with the video.

Much enjoyment was had, even without dancing. laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Thanks to everyone who commented and came up with suggestions on how to improve this one.

Here's the new version. Vocals further up in the mix, as is the sax. Sax riff added to one verse. L/H guitar replaced with piano. The replaced guitar still has a small part to play in various places.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
