So I had a lot of fun with this. BIAB 2021 has some INSANE stuff in it, and I used it to make a song to sound like U2 just to make myself laugh. My goal was not to make it sound kind of like U2, but EXACTLY like U2. Tell me how close I got. Dublin style baby. As usual I am mixing in my own guitars and stuff with the RTs. https://soundcloud.com/david-snyder-gigs3/standing-like-bonoStanding Like Bono By David Snyder I see the hills Covered in fire While I crawl through the valley And I trip through the wires Get pushed down the street Getting pushed to the tracks Helter Skelter and I can’t look back The city is dark, I can’t read the signs Third rail blind, and I lost my mind All the things that you think you need Are the things you left behind CH But I’m still standing While the world turns to stone I’m still fighting to overthrow the throne And I’m standing like Bono But I’m standing alone And I’m standing like Bono But I’m standing alone V2 Lock it down Stay inside Went searching for truth But now I’m trying to hide While I crawl on my knees and cover my eyes All we desire is all we despise Out of my luck, and out of control I gave my heart and they stole my soul The only things that matter now Are the things that don’t grow old CH But I’m still standing While the world turns to stone I’m still fighting to overthrow the throne And I’m standing like Bono But I’m standing alone And I’m standing like Bono But I’m standing alone … David Snyder: Guitar, Vocals, Synths Words and music copyright 2021 by David Snyder ASCAP/Day of Faith Style is _KIP.STY (Kip Dublin Pop Rock) RealTracks in style: 1008:Bass, Electric, ElecRock Ev 120 RealTracks in style: 3637:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm DublinPopChop8ths Ev 120 RealTracks in style: 3638:Guitar, Electric, Background DublinPopMagSpacey Ev 120 RealTracks in style: 1840:Synth Pad, PopModernGrooveMellow Ev16 075 RealDrums [in style:PopPromiseEv16^1-a: Snare on 4, HiHat , b: Snare, Open HiHat

Pretty damn close boyo, I'd say, but the song also stands in its own right. Excellent work, David. Regards, Leon

Hehehe. Aim high! You sound like Springsteen trying to channel Bono - you don't quite have that high/mid register, but for the second verse you certainly went for it. If you could add a bit more pleading and misery to your vocal, you'd have it down! I half expected you to break into a version of "I'm Still Standing" Nice work! It certainly had the U2 "vibe".

Funny and at the same time sad while thinking about Bono standing alone. The sound is definitely exactly like U2, very enjoyable. The melody, chording and singing is not that close to U2, but they are much better, direction U2 should follow. Enjoyed especially the minor key parts and the backing vocals. Excellent work, borrowing some old and adding your creative talent. JB and now U2, what comes next, can't wait and can't guess Janne

Never heard any U2, so cannot say if you hit that mark or not...
But I can say - This sounds great.
Excellent BAND. Love your vocal here - sits in the mix perfectly for the style - and nicely processed.
A really SOLID write.
You are at the top of your game here, mr. snyder...

You certainly nailed the U2 groove.
Nice job

I never heard any U2 music (had to go to YT to look them up). Now I realize I haven't missed much Standing Like Bono has a great backing track and a strong lyric that demands much from anyone brave enough to sing it! Well done.
My music may not set the world on fire but if it causes a glow in just one person's heart, it has all been worthwhile

Hi David,
Well, it works for me.
Excellent backing track and certainly captures the U2 feel.
Sounds like a difficult song to sing, but you made it work. The more you sing like that, the better your range will become, so maybe write some more like this? Hope so.
Cool.
ROG.

David, That`s very cool- from the idea to the write and performance- this is an excellent song. As for U2, I loved Boy and their energy live... then Bono got trapped by his own myth or something? You remind me of those early unspoilt lads.

Dang, you have a ton of talent, David. Outstanding lyrics. You seem at the top of your natural vocal range in this one, and it adds an exciting feel to the sound. Carry My Soul came on at the end of this one, and another pleasurable listen.

Hi David,
Excellent mix. Your voice lends itself well to the melody. The lyrics are well written and thought reflexion. The whole thing pleases and Bono for you is a good reference.

"All we desire is all we despise Out of my luck, and out of control I gave my heart and they stole my soul The only things that matter now Are the things that don’t grow old"
Great lines! But dude where are the red glasses?
Our U2 knowledge is peripheral but sufficient to know that you met your objective for sure.
Vocally, you have quite a few genres in the arsenal ... well done.
Those Dublin guys/gals worked very well with your performances. You bring them across the pond?
Enjoyed it!

David Cuny is right: sounds both like Springsteen AND Bono, however - at the same time - like neither, i.e. you have your own, trademark sound that is neither.
"The city is dark, I can’t read the signs Third rail blind, and I lost my mind All the things that you think you need Are the things you left behind"
"Went searching for truth But now I’m trying to hide"
"Out of my luck, and out of control I gave my heart and they stole my soul The only things that matter now Are the things that don’t grow old"
The lyrics are outstanding. It's hard to pick and choose what to quote! The "but I'm standing alone" line is superb. Your voice is perfect for this kind of song, the writing and production - I couldn't find a flaw in either.
You are an original. Please keep sharing - thanks!

David,
You have one of the most creative minds. You always surprise me with not only your creativity but also your excellent musicianship, vocal and mixing skills, song after song after song.
This is fantastic!

Instrumentation, arrangement, and progression sound like U2. I agree with the other post, hints of Springsteen. It's hard to sound like Bono. The woh-oh sounds like Bono at the end.
Love the lyrics.

David,
Great audio production. I'm not much of a Bono or U2 fan so I can't tell you how close you got to their sound.

Hello David,
When listening to your song, i could only think what Bono would have said! A very nice song with that special vibe in it. The one that tells you it's a Snyder song! I think only you can do it that way. I like it a lot. And although I don't know much of Bono songs, I believe everyone who wrote you were a musical look alike.
One problem on SoundCloud. I wanted to write something, but that wasn't possible. I received a message it could not be saved. So only a 'like' I could give (did that).

Well done, David. A very clever pastiche. The lyrics are excellent and about as nonsensical as most U2 compositions.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
