Hi, I just received a phone call from artistpr.com in Hollywood, CA. I got the old "your songs were listened to on your Myspace page and you got a thumbs up by our president and this only happen for 1 out of 10 artists." or something along those lines.

They offer copy/paste:
How Can I Cancel My account?

Artistpr.com offers a 5 day trial for $2.95 automatically recurring at $60.00 a month until you cancel. Click Here to cancel your membership at any time. You can also email support@artistpr.com If you signed up through paypal login to your paypal account and click on "Billing Agreement" then click on "subscription payment" You will be able to cancel your account from there.

Does anyone have any experience with these guys? While I like to hear that my songs have the attention of some big shot, I'm not so egotistical nor diven by a desire to succeed that I will let the least bit of flattery go to my head and cloud my judgement.

The guy who called was a pretty good salesman and attempted to get me to commit to the $2.95 first payment right away with my Visa. I told him that I had to re-check his website to familiarize myself with it again before I committed. I'm supposed to call him back Monday.

I would really appreciate some advice because I'm going to decline the offer unless I get some positive feedback. While I'm interested in selling my songs, I prefer to find people in need of original material and allow them to make the songs a hit. So far I have 4 young women from the US and 1 Canadian band who want to sing my songs. One of them wants to record a few of them.

Thank you for your time
Jeff

The advantage of a Canadian band is our radio has Canadian content rules, so even if your song won't get played elsewhere, they have to fill the quota. But there are a lot of good Canaidan Bands/ acts at the moment.

Other than that sounds like a scam....the first payment is to ensure they can shove it to you later. Old scheme that.

I have not heard of them. Although I've been solicited by many, that doesn't mean they aren't legit. Have to admit, "artistpr.com" is a pretty good URL name to have registered, so you have to give them some credit.

Doesn't sound cool to me.
If the "big guy" liked your songs, why do you need to subscribe to something??

Having a "legit" looking web site means nothing.
Having "a way out" means nothing too.
The 1 out of 10 thing is to make you feel special. (helps you to keep listening)

Bad vibe. (my opinion)

Update...
They may be legit.
Sounds like a telemarketed version of TAXI. (but A LOT more expensive)
Between the two, I would go with TAXI. If you want someone to review & promote your work.

I'd get in a taxi and get out of town as far away from that company as I can.

Hi, this is John Mahoney owner of Artistpr.com I just came across this thread and wanted to respond. First of all we only call Artists that submit their music to us first.
The membership at Artistpr.com is extremely easy to cancel. Simply visit our contact page. Our toll free # 9am-6pm PST: 800-983-1362 We also provide a 24 hour cancellation link for our members. Customer satisfaction is very important to us. We do offer a free members area and a premium members area. When you fill out the join 4 free link it takes you to the free members area. Artistpr.com is a publicity firm so we do charge a fee like ALL publicity firms. Managers and agents work on a percentage not publicists. I would also suggest reading the FAQ section at Artistpr.com As far as our track record I would suggest reading our testimonials. JM

That does NOT mean you will get famous and make money overnight. I am produce and promote music for Christine Lee. I have done a lot of research online and have read through The Indie Bible. I also have private non-music related businesses. ArtistPR fills the gap for me. I produce songs in my home recording studio, then distribute through TuneCore. I post to all the social networks and to some internet radio stations. I have ordered The Indie Bible and read their material. Both ArtistPR and The Indie Bible give resources and contact to help with press releases, marketing campaigns, and radio play. The Indie Bible has a list of live venues you can play at. I think what makes ArtistPR unique is their online courses to market and promote your music. While TAXI seems to cater to super big music writers and people who make jingles and license their songs for TV/retail outlets, etc. ArtistPR seems to work for a small start-up band/musical artist. They assigned me a personal concierge and treat my requests very well. They thusfar have responded to my email requests and questions within 1 day. They are polite. You do pay a monthly fee for their services, but you can cancel at anytime and it is not hard to do (just call them or hit their cancel out button). They do feature you on their pages. Everything counts: blogs, social websites, and getting on pages like ArtistPR. What I can say: the online teaching ArtistPR gives you, along with the contact list, is way better than anything you can get online for free, and it is all in one place neatly arranged like school courses in logical sequence. I think any serious independent artist should distribute through a service like Tunecore or CD Baby, get contacts and live venue info from The Indie Bible, and learn the art of marketing and promotion from ArtistPR. In the end, it is up to the artist, manager, and producer to make their music heard around the world. No one will do it for you unless you are Madonna or Justin Bieber - and NO, ArtistPR did NOT pay me to post this. I just believe independent artists out there should get honest feedback. I support any company that provides services for independent artists. You can buy The Indie Bible and a few months of ArtistPR for the amount of money you would spend on NBA tickets or good seats at a rock concert (assuming you brought several family members). I cannot see the future and have no way of knowing if we will succeed to the highest levels, but I have hope and a dream, and these companies lend a helping hand. In the end, it is not up to them - it is up to me.

Have you heard of The Starmaker Machine?

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
